Hello, well I have been on 25 mg of Zoloft for about 3 days...I really havent felt a difference at all, no side effects..maybe a little headache or so but...I have been researching more about Zoloft and reading about the withdraw symptoms. After reading about many peoples experiences, I am not sure if I want to be on something that takes so long to work with the possibility that it may not work at all and then have a tough time getting off the medication. I have an appointment with the doctor in about a week and half. I think I may slowly wean myself off this Zoloft before I get too far in. Since I dont have anxiety everyday...mostly performace/social anxiety...I think I would be better with a medication that you "take as needed" and then start Therapy to help. What do you all think of this? I am just afraid my doctor will get mad that I didnt give the Zoloft a long enough chance...

3 days is definitely not enough time to know if the Zoloft will work or not. Zoloft is not an antianxiety agent it is an antidepressant. If you are in immediate need of relief from anxiety, you might want to ask about vistaril. It will provide anxiety relief without risking physical addiction. Any time you have to withdraw from a medication that needs time to build into your system, you will have withdrawal effects unless you work with your doctor to reduce the medication slowly. This is true with all medications that work on a metabolite/half life basis. That is why consumers need to try to work on anxiety and depression issues with diet and psychotherapy first and then medication if necessary.
