Hi all. New here and lots of questions, but I'll start with just 1. Does anyone here also suffer with migraines?

Thanks...Vickie

Hiya Vickie,

Yes I have really bad migraines, where I have loss of vision with jagged auras. I have had them for years.

I do have fibro, but I have had lupus for over 30 years, and the migraines are a symptom of this for me personally. I don't know whether migraines are a symptom of fibro or not.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Hope you are doing ok.

Hi, Vickie!

I started having migraines in my mid-forties and thought it was perimenopausal, but looking back that was when all my fibro symptoms started. I have migraines at least a third of the time, and also have ocular migraines with vision disturbance but not pain. I also have headaches most of the time from TMJ or just fibro muscle pain. Thank God the triptans get rid of my migraines or I don't know how I'd survive. Of course, they make me sleepy which doesn't help my chronic fatigue.

Lots of luck!

Marcia

Sleepless,
Hi, headaches/migraines are a part of fibro, but also have their roots in other problems such a hormone levels. I think as female's when someone says hormones, we automatically think estrogen/progesterone, but people with CFS/fibro are often found to have problems with their thyroid, adrenals, and pituitary. Food allergies also play a heavy part in migraines. The are many additives in food that will trigger a migraine. I have an aunt with terrible migraines, who found that food additives were her major problem. You can do an elimination exercise to see if food is a contributor. This is way healthier for you anyhow. Eat foods that don't have labels. O.K. not easy. Go to simplier foods. Eat organic where you can. Get away from boxed processed food. Your meat and dairy are pumped full of hormones. Of course this is going to have an effect on you. Something you can get at the regular grocery store is a chic called smart chicken. They don't use hormones/antibotics on their birds. I have chosen to eat only organic meat and dairy because of all the hormones and antibiotics they pump in them. Yes there is more of an expense, but I just eat less of those products. We don't need to eat aywhere near the meat and dairy we consume. So eating less is benefical. I am so sorry you have to suffer with this problem. I hope you find ways to help remedy the problem and improve you life!

Hi all,

My migraines started 2 years ago. I had hormone levels checked and all is fine there. Also that is the time the fibro began. I too have ocular migraines. Between the pain and very blurred vision it's hard to handle. I have kept a headache journal. It doesn't appear to be food related.

The doctor I go to has written a book on fibro and he is the greatest. It's hard to believe all the things that can be or are fibro related. I have an appt. with him today with more concerns...ie. itching skin, painful (more that the usual) bruising and I want to talk to hmi more about the headaches.

Good luck to all.....

sleepless,
A good doc is worth a million bucks!! Migraines are about the only thing I don't have. I've got the itching, ahhhhhh. I've noticed that when I first started with fibro problems, I didn't have tons of problems. But as time went on, the more problems I had. Well now hopefully I'm on the turn around.

Hi there!
Ah- migraines...my personal friend! I'm so tired of them. I too have had ocular migraines and also see spots daily- which is also thought to be migraine related. A day without a headache to me is a blessing! I just stopped taking the pill because my dr's believed there could be a correlation. This is my first week off and my head has not stopped hurting. I have no question as to whether hormones are part of this! :(

headaches? Ahhh, I have the 24/7 migraine that has never gone away. Well, for a few years anyway. What happens is it's always there, but sometimes it gets worse and sometimes it's just there enough to bug me. Lately I don't even notice it, I'm just sorta getting used to it..I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing... anyway, yeah.

Yes,, I have had them since I was a child, three-four days ones that put me in bed and make me very weak. I think they may be part of the FMS, since I get achy all over and very tired before I get one (usually once or twice a week).
A preventative med has been suggested to me. Did you ever try this?

Good luck, peace.

Migraines are the pits. My doc wants me to have a PET scan....I have been all kinds of meds for them and nothing has helped. He told me yesterday I was a complex and complicated case....well....shucks. I may have a GH deficiency...thyroid problems and low mag levels. (sighs) Thank goodness I dont mind being stuck with needles.

HAGD, take care and peace.
