I started taking Microgestin (a low dose pill) 4 months ago (switched from desogen) and each month since then my period has been so light, that I can't even call it a period. I mean last month there was a few brown spots for 1 day and that is it. I am definitely not pregnant. I was wondering, has anyone else experienced this while taking BCP? I am actually enjoying not going through the troubles of having my period, but is this safe if it were to continue like this? isn't there potential problems if women skip their period for a certain amount of time?

I don't know about potential problems from not having period (I only had 4 in 8 years on depo provera) but it may just take some time to adjust to the new BC. Have you questioned your GYN about it? I skipped 1 month when I changed from Yasmin to Trivasil and then I was on something more recently but forget the name. It was low dose as well.

I went from a five day period to one when I first started the pill, now (YEARS later) many months I get the bloating and all that, but never actually bleed. According to several doctors to whom I spoke, this is not unusual and nothing to be concerned about. As a precaution, however, you should mention this to your gyn just to get his/her opinion.
