I posted that I have gained 15 pounds since on Seasonale, I started in Feb (15 in TWO months). Then I read that there is no official LINK between bc and weight gain. That typical gain is 2 pounds in a year. So, I obviously am trying to lose the weight. I am working out again (had to stop b/c of back surgery). Two weeks and NADA. Usually I can lose very quickly. Also, like for example: treadmill last night for 20 mins/treadmill this am 10 mins with 20 mins aerobics. Ate a wheat waffle w/peanut butter, a yoplait yogurt (lite) and a banana. Then lunch: sandwhich from panera bread. Got home and felt HUNGRY less than two hours later. I have been Hungry every two hours!!!! Is this the BC? Can it make you feel hungry, or is it from working out? (I also went to PT between bf and lunch and was on treadmill for another ten mins)
So, does bc make you hungry when you are not?

i notice that when i start an exercise program, i gain 5 - 10 pounds in the first few weeks, and my clothes dont fit as well, and i get more hungry. my hunch is that it is just your body adjusting to new exercise - gaining muscle and needing more calories for the added workout. i think if you stick with it (as long as it is aerobic, more than 20 minutes) you will lose fat, though you gain muscle. i wouldnt look to a scale as the only gauge... my guess it isnt the pill.

ah, except I wasn't working out when I gained the weight. One day my jeans were fine and I was 129, then a month later they got a little tighter then one day I couldn't button them at all. I have six pairs of jeans and I can't wear one pair of them. I went from a 4-6 to a 8-10 in less than two months. i haven't been able to work out b/c I had back surgery and was just okay'd two weeks ago to work out again. My surgery was in December. I am getting back on Depo in two days and am hoping If I am off the pill it might be a little easier in losing the weight??? That's a stretch, I know. I usually use my clothing as a tell tale sign of weight loss and gain, but I am now 146ish, from 129. I appreciate your reply btw.

I think it is the pill. I went from a size 8 to a 12 in a few months on the pill. I run and I eat really healthy...I have Kashi cereal with fruit and fat free milk for breakfast, a whole wheat turkey sandwich and an apple for lunch and a healthy dinner...and I still gained. I couldn't lose it at the gym either. Plus, when I go to bed I'm hungry again! Sometimes I have to eat again before bed. It's crazy and I can't fit in any of my old clothes!

i would NOT suggest you go on Depo ~ that makes you gain weight and many can agree with me on that, i took the 1st injection 3 weeks ago and have gained 15!!!!! pounds i have horrible PMS i feel sick everytime i eat and i have no sex drive but then i really cant have sex b/c i've had a period for 3 weeks ~ my advice suck up the few pounds once you start moving again it should go away and just stay on the pill! i am definetly going back on it, just something besides ortho tri cyclen b/c i got pregnant while on that, good luck in which ever you choose

I appreciate your concern about depo, but I was on it for 11 years and never gained weight, not even the two times i was off and then back on. I am back on it now and I like it much better. I personally have never had any problems with it, but that is just me, my body didn't react to it, where maybe it did to the pill, where others wouldn't.

This is crazy and to say that there is not a link between the pill and weight gain is garbage! Mel1977 you're always hungry 'cause the pill does that, I've been off for the month and my appetite is back to normal! Normal, haven't felt like this in ages! the pill would make me terribly hungry every 2hrs so you're not insane and you'll gain weight easier especially if you don't eat like on the Atkins diet e.g. Almost none or very very little carbs, you've to cut out almost ALL simple carbs and no fruits etc and it's mind numbing and I couldn't live like that anymore! Even working out 2wice a day and running up to 30miles a week, my weight just stayed stagnant and my body still looked the exact same way with that layer of fat I went from 129-145 quickly and managed to get down to 139/140 with MUCH of a struggle that still continues. Hope this is helpful, I'd talk to my doc. if I were you and let him/her know what's going on.

WOW, you sound just LIKE ME! I went from 129-145 in less than two months. When I got on the pill was when my appetite went through the roof. At first I thought it was because I went off my wellbutrin, and it has an appetite suppressant, but now I know better b/c I have been back on it for over a month. I work out heavily enough too where before I was on it I would have lost atleast 5 pounds in two weeks, and after 3 I am not even trimming or seemingly gaining any muscle mass either. I feel like I am just working out to do it and not reaping any benefits. I have been off seasonale now for just over two days and am hoping that I stabalize too. Also, any kind of weight gain is horrible for my back too, so I have to be even more conscious. (just had a two level fusion-doc said even 5-10 lbs isn't good). I am going to change my diet a little more, cut out all fruit except for 1/2 an apple a day w/peanut butter. Going back to celery and carrots, lean pockets and popcorn. I am hoping my cravings for sugar drop down again too. Of course, I have been craving sugar since I quit smoking in OCT, which I heard the sugar craze is pretty normal then. I will let you know how I am doing. I am taking some diet tech (effedra free) right now to help with my food intake. Just until I see some changes. I don't care what the scale says so much as I care how I look in the mirror. Glad there are others who understand!

Good Lord this is all crazy, it also makes me angry that the drug companies are spending more time on Viagra like ***** and not trying to tweak these drugs for us women. Now I'm off and my appetite is normal, my period is missing and I think I'm retaining water/fluid like crazy...6lbs in 2weeks and dieting and exercising like a pro!!!
