I'm a 16 year old girl who is currently 5'6" and 141 pounds. I'm very happy and comfortable with my body, as I love having some curves. But then again, I wouldn't mind losing a couple pounds. I'm thinking about being in the 130-135 range, but I don't want to change my lifestyle drastically to do it. I watch what I eat, but not to the point where I'll go out of my way to avoid a burger or junk food every once and a while. I have lost 10 pounds without even intending to in the past year just by drinking more water and avoiding snacking, which is basically part of my lifestyle now. Does anybody have any advice? Are there any small healthy tips you have that you've learned to live by? Any foods I should avoid or would benefit my body? Quick exercises that I can do for my tummy, arms, or legs that won't be a hassle?

Thanks for the help in advance! :)

Watch your carb intake with your breads, pasta, fruits, junk food, drinks etc. and you might be surprised how quickly you could lose it add more water and start exercising. You could do crunches, squats, leg lifts, use soup cans for dumbells (if you don't have them), walk in place, the possibilities are endless for something quick n easy without having to purchase equipment! Good Luck!

As you said, little things have helped you lose weight unintentionally. A bit of exercise (that wont be a hassle) would help you speed the process up. I try to walk whenever I can instead of drive, which is so hard when I just bought a new car!
Other than getting more exercise, I would say to lose those last 10 lbs just keep going as you are! You seem to have the right ideas - junk food in moderation is ok, just don't make it an everyday habit.
Keep up the good work!

Well good for you for being comfortable with your weight and curves. You have a very healthy attitude and I admire that in a 16 year old! BRAVO!

Anyhow, do you like to dance? When I was 16, I loved to dance. It can be anything - but doing it in your home will help. It is a great workout and will help you lose those few pounds. Good luck!

That sounds like a great idea to me! Dancing is a whole lot of fun, and a good excuse to spend some time with friends as well. Invite a few people over and get moving! :D

I might also suggest taking up jogging? I just started it about a month and a half ago, and I love it. Take a discman along and listen to your favorite tunes, or bring along a friend and you can chat the whole time. I started off at fifteen minutes of jogging when I was really out of shape, and have worked my way up to forty now. That bit of exercise every day made me feel a lot better. :)
Good luck!

Hello,

I am brand new here, and I also struggle with weight. My stats are 5'7"-175 lbs, I am working towards 150 lbs and so far have lost 10 (now at 175) from just adding exercise and watching what I'm eating. I got one of those stability balls and have bought a few work out videos to go with it, including a Cardio/Circuit training dvd, which have helped shed the pounds. I like using these because I would much rather work out at home than go to a gym. :) I try and do at least 25 minutes a day and between all three videos there are about 6 different routines, so I try to mix it up every week, but I make sure I am doing the cardio routine at least 3 times a week. This is what is working for me, its fun too!!

Thank you for letting me share!
