Does anyone have suggestions on an easier way to maintain the "downstairs". I HATE shaving and I always get in-grown hairs. Any suggestions would be nice! THANKS!

Well what I do in between is use my husbands electric shavor (the trim side) and that seems to do the job just fine -what is really great is no bumps! :nono:

I will either use an electric shaver or if I want a super close shave, I just use Nair. I get a few ingrown hairs with Nair, but not nearly as much as with using a razor, and not as much irritation either. Hope this helps :)

I use hair conditioner. It's the best shaving cream there is. And I use a razor that's not super-sharp but not dull either. It seems like if you do it every day it's smoother and less prone to ingrowns.

I like those little pen-style personal shavers, like that one "as seen on TV" (I found a cheaper knockoff). It's like a mini clipper. It's great for toes too!

i think ingrown hairs are going to happen no matter what. When i notice one coming i just take my tweezers to it right away to get it out that way the bump heals a lot faster.

If you are going to shave this area, the best thing to do is to shave with the hairs. Not against them. So shave downwards. This will make a huge difference. You can put some "Bikini Zone" on the area afterwards and that helps too. The Micro Trimmers are also a great idea.

If you can stand the pain, get an Emjoi electric razor. That actually works the best. But, it is painful the first few times you do it.

There is a specific electric/battery operated shaver for trimming public hair ya know? I bought mine at Target. There were a variety of options too. Works great and no shaving cream needed.

Hello Everybody,
I am new here and very happy to find this place :)

How about the laser? Did anyone here think about it?

Veggigoddess ~ I've seen a couple of your posts on the "board" just below this one...

I was distracted by the title of this thread - so here I am...

You mentioned an appliance at Target ~ will it work for guys ???

It's trim-up time for those who practice warm-weather clothing optionality - so I'd really like to know... Kinda funny, but after volleyball and tennis yesterday ~ we hairy guys wound-up mentioning that we ALL tend to run off-set electric hair trimmers over our chests (and wherever) after the winter ~ as the fur's a bit thick this time of year !!!

Those little pen-like battery operated things seem to be of no use whatsoever, and as most folks mentioned, the dreaded ingrown hairs take the fun outta the whole thing...

I used-to blade-shave the specific region(s) being discussed here ~ but had irritation and follicle issues (hairs ingrown or getting infected zit-like qualities) ~ particularly around the backside...

Any specific recommendations for GUYS ???

Thanks in advance !!!

~ M* ~ :)

There is a product called Tendskin that is nothing short of miraculous. I use it for my neck, and my female relatives use it elsewhere.

The gadget I have is by Remington and is model bkt-1000 and it's about half the size or the standard men's hair trimmer so to b able to get into "crevices" ;)
You should search sites like dealtime, shopping.com, and even target.com to see what people review/rate this. I think they're under the name bikini trimmer (but it's really pubic hair trimmer)

Thanks Mango !!! I once tried the stuff "men of color" use to shave without a blade - but over time the "depilatory" caused my skin to react...

Thanks Veggie (you really are a goddess) !!! I'm going to research that, as you suggested...

i use nair. you put it on, wait a bit, and it pretty much comes right off by wiping it off. if any is left behind, then i use a razor. leaves your skin pretty smooth too.

Is there a special type of nair to use?

I dont' want to use something down there that might react badly because it IS a sensitive area :P

What type of nair do you use, Marcy_25?

there is a vanilla scented nair made especially for the bikini area. i've used it but it never seemed to work very well for me.
