I'm in my third month of using Yasmin after 9 years on ortho tri cyclen. I have no complaints so far other than that I can't drink caffeinated coffee anymore without getting serious shakes. I don't think it could be anything else besides the Yasmin because I'm not taking anything else. Has anyone else had similar problems on this prescription? Thanks!

Actually I've been going around to lots of boards and it seems that the pill can cause axiety and jitters in some and add caffiene to that, well you got one hell of a mix

I guess it's just the pill mixed with my usual anxiety. I'm usually pretty jumpy anyway, but I was curious if anyone else had similar problems.

I was on Yasmin for a little over 1 month and had to stop it. It made me tired, chest pains, numbness in my neck and also had the shakes and anxiety.

Why did you go off of OTC after 9 years???

I am only 20 years old and ended up in the ER one day because of a heart rate that was skyrocketing over 150 and chest pain, palpiations, and pressure. They did all kinds of tests including bloodwork and cts and found nothing wrong. They thought I could have a blood clot because my labs were a little elevated and the birthcontrol risk but when the ct didn't show one they blamed it on anxiety. I have never suffered from anxiety, and my heart rate was in the 100s for at least a week. This kept happening off and on so I started to do some research and I am beginning to think that is from taking Yasmin birthcontrol. I never had this problem until I started taking it, and can't drink caffeine without going through the roof although I never had a problem before with caffeine. I am going to try coming off the pill because after reading so many similar experiences around the net I really think its that.

One of the risks with all birth control pills is high blood pressure. So it must effect the heart in some way so it could cause those symptoms in some people. When I started taking Yasmin it seemed to calm me down. I felt really relaxed and calm while I was on it. I did spot too much while taking it so I switched to a different brand.

Whoa...kristina--I wonder how concerned I should be w/ the "hot flashes" or so I call them--my head/ears in particular will get scarlet RED when I take my pill, after about a few hrs after I take it that is. I also take it at night, around 7:00, and about 30 mins or so after , sometimes an hour BEFORE I get red red ears and am worried it could be blood pressure related/the Pill.

Why don't doctors make us aware of all the bad risks associated w/ the Pill?? My ob gun made me mad because he thinks Yasmin is THE GREATEST pill in the world and all the odd side effects I'm feeling, according to him cannot be due to that pill....grr

Regarding the caffeine quesion, I do not recall seeing this warning in my Alesse pack (had to get off that after 2 yrs b/c I gained 40 lbs in that time, 30 in the entire last year of being on Alesse)....but in the Yasmin pill information if you read it online it does say to watch your caffeien intake as there are risks w/ taking that!

Ladies-
Regarding the caffiene question, I can specifically remember reading from a nonbiased qualified resource that taking birth control can/will make you more sensitive to the effects of caffiene.

I will do some looking to try and find it again.

I haven't found any warning sites or anything like that but I read tons of experience reports on this site and others in which peoples hearts were racing nonstop with yasmin. I have also gained 15lbs since I started. A couple years ago I was on Allese for a year and actually lost 30lbs during that time. Now I'm lucky if I can lose a pound no matter what I do and with my heart being crazy I really want to drop some pounds so I'm hoping stopping yasmin will help me there too. My sex drive has also diminished on yasmin, which kind of defeats the purpose of being on it in the first place dont you think?
