Hi, I'm a 28 yr old female in pretty good health... I do have asthma though but have always been able to control it. Well lately I have been having weird chest pain for about a week now... it is pretty much constant (not just when I do a strenuous activity) and it seems to be worse at night. I also feel out of breath sometimes, and I dont think it's my asthma. I mean I can totally breathe, but like I feel like I cant get a deep breath in. The pain is pretty much in my upper chest. I also sometimes have a pain that feels sortof like a bubble in my lungs when I sleep on my side... it hurts too much to sleep then so I just dont sleep on that side when it happens. I think I have a fast heart rate but I'm not positive.. no Dr has ever said anything about it. I really dont know if this is anxiety or something more serious...how can I tell?

TY! :)

I've had open heart so I have some experience with this. I'm also the new guy on the block.

By what you are saying, Dream, I don't think you're dealing with a heart issue so much as it may be anxiety or another lung-related problem. You're having greater difficulty breathing when you lay down looks to be a key factor here.

Still, anxiety plays weird games with our bodies and our heads. Your heart problem may be more of an emotional issue you need to talk about. Stress can do strange things to our hearts, like give us the false impression we are having a heart attack when all that's going on is that you are under stress of sort.

I do think it's time you had a full blood work up so your primary doctor can check your blood enzymes. I really do. Plus, if I were your doctor, I'd take an EKG so I can get an idea of what and how your heart is doing right now.

Lastly, have you recently changed your diet? I'm wondering if you might have a chemical imbalance going on inside of you.
