What would you consider overweight for a 20 year old female who stands at 5'3. I'm not asking what would technically be unhealthy, I just want to know what you guys (society) thinks a 5'3 woman should weigh? Thanks.

well, maybe 110? I am 5'5" and normally would weight between 125 and 135 on a good day. Bad right now, gained up to 146 from 129. working on that. Anyway, so much depends on your frame and muscle mass too. Both can make a difference. What I wrote is just a guess based on friends I have who are similar in height. I don't think there is a good weight as long as you are healthy.

I weighed 115 lbs through high school, then gained 15-20 lbs my freshman year of college. My roommates were two large women who constantly assured me on how skinny I was, regardless of my weight gain. I secretly felt chubby though and was pointed out as fat by strangers from time to time. Then I got pregnant and gained a large amount of weight and am eager to get back to a good size. I weigh 170 lbs right now and am 8 1/2 months pregnant.

Do you guys consider anything above 120 to be chubby for a short woman? As I said, I'm not looking for what a doctor would consider healthy. I'm looking for opinions on what you would consider skinny/chubby/fat. Thank you!

I pulled up an ancient insurance chart for good weight.
It says a 5'3" woman should weigh 110 for a low 118 for average and a high of 128.

I think it absolutely depends on your structure/frame/muscle mass. I am 5'4 and if I went by the low to mid range of what the charts say I should weigh I wouldn't be able to fit into a size 0..it would be too big. At 130-35 pounds I am a size 4. If you had no muscle mass at 130 and 5'4 you could be chubby!
It's all relative! It also depends where YOUR body feels comfortable! Good luck w/ the delivery!

A nutritionist once told me that there is an equation to get the highs and lows, and where you fall depends on your build...
Apparently...
a 5 foot woman should average 100lbs. You add 5 pounds per inch above 5 foot. (so a 5'1=105lbs, 5'2=110, etc)
You then take 10% of that number and add and subtract both weighs to find the healthy range.
So if you are 5'3 your average would be 115. 10% of 115 is 11.5, so your weight should fall between 103.5 and 126.5.
As far as society goes, I think the anorexic look is out, so looking healthy is more important. I am 5'7, so I should weigh between 121.5 and 148.5, everyone always says I'm too thin and I look bony, even though I weigh 132.

So it really is important to use this as a guide, but NOT as the standard. Where you fit in those boundaries really does depend on your build. Some people are just denser than others.
Hope this helps!
Good luck

OOPS!!! You asked OVERWEIGHT? I misread and thought you were asking what was a healthy weight! GOSH, I am sorry. I haven't read any responses yet but I am fearing I might have put some people off with that one. Please accept my apology!!!!!

Well lets face it your having a baby so of course you feel kind of "chubby" right now.

Im about the same height as you. Im just short of 5'4'' and i weighted around 140-145 in highschool (kinda chunky but not fatty i was about a size 9) since then i have put on some weight (165) i consider myself over weight. Im currently in the process of losing it. I cut my calories and trying to work out...

i wouldnt cut calories until you have your baby though if you consider that.

I'm 5'3" and 22 years old. The weight i liked myself best was at 115-120. I was quite thin and happy to be in a bikini. I have fairly strong bones and good strength in my muscles. If you are a bit of a waif like figure (thin bone structure, kinda weak) you could probably go down to as low as 105 and be ok. I prefer the stronger/toned look more though.
