Hi. This is my first post. I was wondering if anyone can give me all the "happy" details about bone marrow biopsy. I have Lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome. Was taking immunosuppresents for my Lupus. Also had a small stroke last year. But now my CBC is showing some myelocytes (immature white cells) they want to do a bone marrow to see whats going on. I'm thinking polycythemia also, cause I've had elevated red counts.

Hi again. I had my bone marrow biopsy today and it was not bad at all. The anticipation is worse than the procedure. I'm actually glad no one replied which means no one has had to have one. Now I just have to wait about a week for the results though. have a nice day!!

I realize your post is more than a year old. I'm surprised that no one has responded to you. I had a hysterectomy a year ago next month. When pre-surgical testing was done, they found that I had elevated blood platelets. A hematologist/oncologist was called in. He has been monitoring my platelets since then. Last winter I had to have a root canal done, so I attributed the elevated platelets to this problem. Got that cleared up and the crown put on that tooth, and I thought my problems would be over. Not so, unfortunately, as then my sinuses were acting up and thought this could be the problem. For almost a year now my platelets have been elevated. My hematologist/oncologist has been suggesting a bone marrow test for about 4 months now, but I was dreading the bone marrow test so much. And I was so convinced that my problem was something simple. Reading your posting has made me feel better about having a bone marrow test. I have just about convinced myself that I should have one ASAP! Thanks! sapphire12112
