Does anyone know anything about this program? If so, please post the basic rules. I find the concept quite interesting, but don't know the specifics ... all I know is that you're supposed to eat one apple before each meal .. but if you are supposed to wait a certain period of time after that to eat your meal, I don't know.
Thanks for any help.

You eat 1 apple right before each meal. The point is that the apple fills you up & you will eat less. It actually works pretty good. I tried it last winter when fruits are scarce. I did it more to get servings of fruit each day.

Also, apples are a good source of fiber. I find this pretty nice. The idea is that the apple will fill you up, will provide the vitamins, will provide one of the servings of fruit that you are supposed to eat ( i think the typical servings per day are 3-4 ) and it has fiber. I will start to use this.

Hi, I have learned a bit more since my first post. Apparently, people who have eaten one apple prior to each of three meals were able to lose a greater percentage of body fat than those who just dieted. There is a theory that there are enzymes present in apples that are not common in the overweight. The test groups who ate the apples lost between 7 - 12 percent body fat while those who ate no apples lost between 5 - 7 %. Interesting.

Conclusion: diet and eat apples. Should be nasty for a couple of weeks or more depending on how much you need to loose, but if it works, i will do it untill I need to even if it's the rest of my life. I don't need to loose too much though. 10-20 lbs will be awsome but 10-15 of weight loss is what I am aiming for. That will be 2 months of dieting, another words, untill school ends. Great. I am starting tomorrow and hopefully will get some good results...

Why would it be nasty?
I think I made a post about the same thing a few months back. Apples are a very cleansing food, good for the liver and gallbladder especially.

I just started the "three apple a day program" yesterday, except I'm only eating two a day. I ate an apple before eating lunch, and one right before eating dinner. Same thing today. I do admit that I feel much fuller faster now, where as before if I ate a sandwhich, I would have to have chips or something crunchy with it and something sweet after it. In doing this, I just ate my sandwhich, and was full. Plus I'm getting in my fruit servings for the day. I am also just drinking water now, no juice or pop. Grant it I just started the apple thing, but I will weigh myself next weekend and see if anything has changed.

Apples & diet?
I now have started a new diet sugguested to me by my doctor. Here is what I eat.
Breakfast: Lowcarb, wholegrain ceral floated on Skim Milk.
After Breakfast Snack: Fruit or nothing.
Lunch: Salad w/ low carb ranch or no dressing.
After Lunch Snack: Apple or Low Fat Fruit Yogurt.
At About 7pm: Apple and a glass of water.
*** If you go on this diet, you loose about 2-5 lbs per week. Liquids are very important. Drink 8-10 glasses of water every day. Other liquids may be included IN ADDITION to the water. Good Luck.

Don't forget your protein! I'm not sure if that's enough calories, but everyone's different.

i97, I'm actually surprised a doctor recommended that diet. I just spoke to my doc and he actually told me that I might have to boost my caloric intake (never thought I'd hear that ... :D ) because I might be operating below my BMR .. which is the lowest amount of calories your body needs just to stay alive, digest food, pump your blood, etc. He said if you dip below that, your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to every calorie, no matter how few you eat .. and so that's why people plateau or stall. Sooo, I find that diet plan interesting. Let us know how it goes. :)

I take about 1500 calories per day and a protein shake. I forget how much protein it has. As long as my stomach is full, its all good. The body will not go in starvation mode and it will just burn the fat in order to get the remaining 1000 or 2000 calories it needs to function properly, do the things i do everyday and just basically be as healthy as possible with my diet. With this typical diet, working out is important ( if you do not want to loose muscle mass ). I lift 5-6 times a week, 40mins-1.5 hrs. Last couple of days I lost 3 lbs. Happy with the results.
I have a question though:
My dad is a fisherman. I would say he goes fishing about once a week or so. He brings home fish every saturday I would say and cooks it so good that I cannot resist eating some. I know fish is good, but I am sure with all my 165lbs that he puts about half the oil in the fish while cooking. So I am not sure. But, the fish eggs / spawn, he just fries them in a little bit of veg. oil with some salt. I was thinking if the fisheggs are good like that. They would provide protein wouldnt they? And no cholesterol, if any at all?
Thanx, i97
