Hi:
I have a new supplement that needs to be taken with food and Im wondering what is the least amount of food needed for vitamins to be absorbed properly without having to eat an entire meal when I take one. Is a cracker or something like that enough?

I think it's just enough food to coat your stomach so to speak. Anytime I have taken a vitamin/supplement that states to take w/ food and I didn't feel like a meal I just had like a half dozen crakers, banana, piece of toast, 5 spoonfuls yogurt etc... Just enough so you don't risk an upset tummy.

The idea of taking vitamins with food is two fold. One, because many vitamins are also acids and could upset your stomach, food buffers that acid. Two, because it is always best to spread out your vitamin absorption throughout the day and food slows absorption. So a single cracker really isn't doing either of those is it? I would say a sandwich or several crackers and cheese, or something equivalent to that would be the minimum.
