I am looking to loose 2-5 lbs per week but do not know of a good diet. Can someone give me ideas of what I should eat and what I shouldn't? Can someone give me ideas of what I should buy and what I shouldn't? I have tried some diets before but my parents buy too much junk and once or twice a day, I find myself eating some of that nasty stuff. If I can go shopping I feel like I can get my way and buy what I want. Can someone make a typical list and what and how much i should eat per day?
Thank you in advance,

Well, my diet is taking about 5lbs per week off, but it's fairly drastic.
I eat a bowl of cereal in the morning (whatever cereal I feel like; lately, it's been Life), a multi-vitamin, and OJ to take the vitamin down (and give myself an extra blast of vit-C).
For lunch, if I'm on campus, I have a salad (salad greens, chopped ham, grated cheddar, and french dressing), one entree (today was a slice of pizza), dessert (a piece of cake), and three drinks (one glass of skim milk, one glass of water, and one glass of unsweetened iced tea). I eat more on campus because I need the energy for school.
For lunch on my days off (Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun), I have a Lean Cuisine meal with a glass of skim milk.
For supper, on all nights, I have a serving of yogurt. If I'm going to go weight lifting, I have a boiled egg as well (minus the yolk) for extra protein.
Those are my meals. During the day, I only drink water. Nothing with calories in it.
However, diet alone can't take care of weight, so I exercise daily. On Sundays and Thursdays, I spend an hour lifting in the gym in order to build/tone my muscle. The other days, I go to the gym and use the cardio equipment or go jogging. Running/jogging really helps melt the weight off. Do cardio exercises like walking, running, or jumping jacks in order to jump start things.
Make sure you have breakfast every morning, too. It gets the metabolism running in a good way. It makes you more hungry during the day, but since you aren't starving yourself, your body simply takes off of your fat reserves when you get hungry (you know how you'll feell hungry for a while, and then not? it's your body taking a snack off of your body fat).
Make sure you don't eat within three hours of going to bed. I actually don't allow myself to eat after 7PM. It makes me a little hungry later on at night, but it works. I'm taking 5lbs off per week, and liking it.

I would suggest doing Weight Watchers Point system.
Diets aren't very healthy because you have to eat that way the rest of your life to stay skinny. With Weight Watchers you eat normal foods but you are allotted daily points.
Say you way 200lbs. Your point allowance would be 24 points. So for the whole day you would record what you eat and how many points it totals up to. Cereal with 1 cup skim milk = 4 points so you have 20 points remaining, ect.
I lost 5lbs in the first week. I know my good friend has been eating healthy for 8 months and she reached her goal, a loss of 32lbs.
It is not a diet. You can eat what ever you want, it is all in moderation/portion control. You just need to stick to a certain amount of calories.

Well, since I began trying to lose weight (last May), I've lost 110lbs. It's a rate of about 10lbs per month. However, in the last three months, I've found my stride, and have been dropping them faster. I've lost 50lbs since January.

Whoa, I only need to loose about 10-15 lbs and in a way that does not hurt my muscle mass. I can lift a lot ( my friends are amazed ) and I know I have muscle under some fat but it does not show.
As for cardio like running, jogging, etc I have a broken growth plate on my left ankle and I cannot do anything for some time ( at least 3 mroe months ). I have had problems with my ankle since 3 summers ago, when I broke it in 2 places. about 3 months ago I broke my growthplate on the ankle and cannot do anything but walk and probably jog for a bit but i will be hurting after a while.
I will try the diet you said with these changes/ways:
breakfast -SmartStart Cereal
Lunch -Salad ( lettuce, ham, maybe some other greens, and probably), Drink ( MinuteMaid lemonade Light [can't get over my lemonade] )
Snack after lunch - fruit or yogurt
evening meal ( before 7-8pm ) fruit, drink, and probably some sort of vegie like broccoli (3-5 ounces )
I will lift weights 5 times a week or so. ( giving my body time to repair muscle tissue) and I will drink when I am thirsty AND chew gum because I just can't live w/o it.
I will try this for 2-3 weeks and if i loose like 5-10 lbs within this period, I will keep it up until I reach my goal, and then go back to the diet I have now, ( which is a basically high nutritional value diet to maintain weight )
Thanx, i97

here4support: Thanks. It's been a tough time, but oh so worth it.
i97: Sounds great. That should help you out quite a bit. Just stick with it.
