I am a 33 yr old male, who was diagnosed two weeks ago with bipolar. I am currently on 900 mg lithium daily, the doctor wants me to move up to 1200 mg and I also currently take 50-75 mg dailyy seroquel before bedtime. I have terrible insonmia and over the last 2 months was on amptriptyline, remeron, restoril, xanax, and valium and Inever seemed to get more than 2-5 hrs sleep on them. The 50 mg seroquel the first 3 nights workedgreat, slept like 8-10 hrs each night, then it didn't work as good. Iup the dosage to 75mg and the next few nights I slept great again, but I started experiencing arapid heartbeat, mainly while just standing still not near as fastwhilesitting or lying. I have read all the precautions and warnings and called the company who makes seroqueland they tell me that rapid heartbeat has been reported. My concern is of NMS(the potentially life threatening rare syndrome) it says you also get confused and have musle rigidityuall over and sometimes run a high fever. I am worried that I could get that, I do get like dizzy and fuzzy head along with rapid pulse whileon a mild dose of seroquel, I also have read that this just may be a side effect that will go away shortly. I know it helps me sleep great. Does anyone have any experience similar to mine with seroquel, orany suggestions. Thankyou

I have never taken this medicine so I can't help you here but there will be someone who can. Welcome to the boards!

I also want to add a big welcome to you! I am not on any of those either, but I am sure many around here can help! Love, Lori

I take 400mg of seroquel nightly and have only experienced lots of sleep and feeling occasionally giddy (kinda like being in la la land). I haven't heard of the rapid heartbeat or muscle rigidity until now.
