I'm planning to purchase a flat iron but not sure which one to buy. It has such a huge price range from $9.99- $125. I would rather stay as low as possible, yet wanting to get one that does a really good job without so much damage.
Any ideas?
And do they really work well, actually straightening hair and keeping it that way? I have wavy that can frizz easily from humidity.

If you want a good one that will work, you are going to have to spend a little more. Your best bet is a ceramic one - they are the most efficient & hot but cause the least amount of damage. Also, the more expensive the less time you have to spend on one pass which amounts to less exposure to that section of hair.
I used to work with a girl who had extremely long, thick & curly hair. She used an iron and it would stay straight until she washed it again (usually two days max). I don't think that humidity will make a difference - again the quality of iron would affect that somewhat.

I love my chi. It was around $110 - but came with a bottle of Biosilk.
My dd has naturally curly hair. The chi straightens her hair well, and it will stay that way until she washes it again. But if there's enough humidity for it to rain, then her hair will start to curl on the ends even after being straightened. I think it just depends upon your hair.

.
Did you get your chi from a regular dept. store or a beauty product store?
Thanks! :) I'm excited now, didn't think it would last til you shampoo.

I agree, don't waste your money on anything but a CHI, important factor to remember, always use the silk therapy or some other protectant before you use your iron, this will help prevent damage and improve the over all condition of your hair

We just bought a Sedu because of all the negative write ups on the chi and my daughters and I love it.

I will check both of them out, is the Sedu more than $110?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The bad thing about using a cheaper model is that they are not made of the same material. The sedu is ceramic/tourmaline which is much gentler on your hair. Also, believe it or not, because the more expensive brands actually get hotter, you can spend much less time on your hair which over time is better for it.
The Sedu is sooo cool...it gets hot on both sides so you can actually curl with it. I've used a chi, along with wigo and everything below and this is absolutely my favorite.
