I have noticed some symtoms of peri, such as periods which were extremely irregular coming monthly like clockwork now, a hot, flushed feeling in my face from time to time, heart palps, hyperventilating, anxiety, some muscle weakness in my extemities, etc. I am 46. About two months ago while sitting at the computer I got dizzy to the point where I felt like I was going to pass out. I relieved it by placing my head between my legs. It never happened again until this morning, but it happened while I was lying in bed talking on the phone. Has anyone ever experieiced that? Can it be a symptom of the anxiety attacks that can go with this (I do have a history of a few anxiety attacks when I was younger too)? It just threw me for a loop because it happened while I was lying down, doing basiclly nothing. I do have an appointment with my doctor because it scared me, but not till 4/19.
TIA!

I sometimes get a lightheaded feeling like I'm not in control. They usually last 30 seconds or so. Scares me if I'm driivng especially. Try relaxing when that happens, because even though we are lying down doesn't mean we are actually relaxed. Go see the Dr and see what they say, but in the meantime don't panic. Be kind to yourself

Hi Nancy
I remember feeling dizzy while laying down too, while walking, sitting too. There were many days and months when I felt this way and really off-balanced, which is probably the when the hormones fluctuating. It a horrible way to be!! Anxiety can also make you lightheaded/dizzy like. Try not to worry or stress over it - it could make it worse. All the symptoms you listed are peri so don't be surprised if you start getting others.

Hi..
I am 47, and since having other peri symptoms for a few years, I also have the dizziness..It can be when I am sitting, standing, walking, lying down, etc
Never know when it is going to come..It usually just comes and goes, lasts a few seconds, but it is scary and annoying....Also, have had the spinning type vertigo while turning over when lying down...But just once years ago, and then once again a few months ago......And also felt dizzier when I was on BC pills (which i only took for 4 mos. to regulate my periods),,,am off them now....I had all kinds of tests, bloodwork, etc and everything is normal, so I guess it must just be due to hormone fluctuations with this..
Take Care

I also forgot to say, I do have anxiety and panic attacks, have had them off and on since I was a teenager, and just started therapy (again) a few weeks ago...So that is a symptom of that for me too (the dizziness)...I noticed the more panicked I get, I then hyperventilate, and the dizziness is worse...

Hi guys, Just wanted to add that I too have dizzyness issues big time and they can never decipher what they are. I am ten days from my period(if it comes on time) which it could or couldn't and yesterday out of nowhere I got so dizzy at work I could barely stand up. Have had this for 10 months, some days worse than others but for me it seems like it really flares up during hormonal times. Have had them all checked out and everything is a-ok according to the endocrinologist. I am only 34 but this has really impacted my life in a big way. I also suffer from a condition known as MAV, which is migraine vertigo, which we all know hormones can play a part in, I dont have the typical migraine just all of the accompaning dreadful symptoms, visual distortions, off balance etc but am also convince the hormones exacerbate it. Its a heck of a way to live and I am so disgusted because I am so young, my Mom had a hyster at age 28 as did my aunt and grandma so I have no way of knowing if I am in early meno. by my family history.
Any ideas??
Thanks a bunch,
Kim
