Are you using drug store bought hair color or natural brands which are ammonia free?

Well I know there are henna based hair colors in health food stores (like Whole Foods) that cost around the same as any other hair color. You can't use them if you currently have chemically color treated hair. I think the color ranges maybe less, but you shoudl give it a try. If you can't find any in a store then go on-line as there are numerous sites which sell boxed henna hair color for no more then $9.99.

My main grocery store is Whole Foods and there's a whole section of henna hair color and I have seen it at every health food store as well. It depends on where you live regarding the availability of course.

Hey!

Three weeks ago I colored my hair twice one after the other, but the second one was amonia free. Now my scalp is burning and it gets worse after shampooing. Was it from coloring my hair twice? So how long can it be until I can color again?

Probably was from over processing. Even the ammonia free one's can be harsh on the scalp and in combo w/ already having used a chemical based dye it was probably just overkill for your scalp. I assume you normally wait till your roots begin to show till you usually re-color? If you find the color too dark, but are affraid to re-color again soon then try self highlighting so lighten up or change the look. Highlights won't really touch your scalp so no risk of irritation.
