This year i've been suffering very badly with my asthma, Ive been to casualty SIX times and its really getting me down now. The last time i went which was a week ago none of the drugs theygave me werent working, i tried salbutamol and atrovent nebs, then 2 injections of hydrocortisone then and injection of prednisolone then an introveneous drug and i was getting worse and worse and extremely tired. Thye eventually called the anaethetist down and he and his team took me to intensive care.. i was getting very energyless and very panicky as i really couldnt breathe.. they told me they were going to try one last drug (introveneous magnesium sulphate) or put me on a ventilator! Thank God the magnesium worked! I was in ITU for two days and nights on CPAP and i improved, i was then sent to a cardiac ward and was monitored for three furthur days. I'm sixteen and female and i found this so so so scary and its never been so bad that nothing has worked and ive never been in ITU (that was the scariest bit) let alone on non invasive ventilation! I'm petrified its going to happen again! Doees anyone have any suggestions why it was os bad or why ive been havinga cough for 4 months and shooting paisn all ove rmy chest?

Wow, honey, I am so sorry you went through that! They had no idea what could have caused such a bad attack? Could you have been exposed to chemicals? I'm pretty new to the asthma world myself, so I'm just now trying to find my own triggers.
Have you had allergy testing done? Maybe something you came into contact with something you are very allergic to. Have you seen your regular doctor? And if so, what did he/she say? Also, are you followed by a pulmonary specialist? If not, get an appointment with one right away. It's been two months since my first attack and I just had my first visit with a pulmonary specialist. I am now finally feeling like someone is going to get to the bottom of my asthma. My GP seems to just want to patch the current problems and not find out why.
I hope you are feeling better soon. I also hope you don't have another attack especially like that one. You should probably watch what you eat and come in contact with carefully. Start a journal or something. If you should have more symptoms, you may be able to piece together a catalyst from it.
