I went to the dr with my MRI results, he suggests doing a lami on L3 only right now as I am not in pain just severe foot drop. I am alittle concerned due to the fact that my MRI shows multiple levels of problems. Should I just do the L3 and wait for the other to act up or see about addressing more of the problems prior to surgery. He did suggest a surgery ASAP as my Foot drop is fairly severe and the channce of it recouping are slim now. I imagine it will be less possible if I wait? Any suggestions appreciated. Oh, 2nd consult suggested doing EMG and Mylogram (sp) prior to surgery to possibly evaluate the damage at L5 and S1. I posted my MRI results earlier that shows all the detail from T11 - S1. Thanks for any info you might have.

Hi - My name is Chris 37 in Tampa FL. Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Go to the best and don't settle. I have had 2 back surgeries both at L5-S1, the first was a lamenectomy 1999 then 2004 a hemi-laminectomy discectomy. Since the dr here in Tampa compressed the S1 nerves so long during surgery I am left with a brick of scar tissue and severe degerative disc disease at that level. I do not know where you live but you should send call Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhatten(dr Camissa), or Univeristy of Miami (Dr B Green). Look at their websites, the are the best and I am hoping to hear something from one of them soon to see who will get me back out of this wrenching pain in low back right leg to foot... I was desparate to get out of pain, and I should have found the best doctors in the nation before ever proceeding. I wish you all the luck. Chris H
