View Full Version : Broken Collarbone

I have a broken collarbone and my 3rd rib is fractured due to an ATV accident. I'm in a figure 8 with my left arm in a sling. Today is April 9th, well this Saturday it will be 2 weeks since the accident.
My problem is, that my collarbone keeps popping in and out of place. It no longer hurts as bad as it did but this is VERY uncomfortable and VERY annoying. My question is, should this bone have healed enough where this should not be happening? The only way I can keep it from doing this is by tightening the figure 8 so much that my left arm turns purple and holding my hand so high on my chest as if I were pledging allegiance. When I sleep at night I have to sleep almost sitting straight up and my left arm goes numb because I have my elbow on such a bind from being bent. I do smoke and the doctor said that, that keeps bones from healing. I have cut down though to 1/2 a pack per day. My theory is, that I should have had surgery and he don't want to do that because I don't have insurance. I know you dont have access to the x-rays but the bone was in a "V" instead of a straight line after the break. It seems to me that doctors treat you like crap if your not insured...well I will NEVER pay $100 a month when nothing ever happens to me...little things like this cant be much and I have more than enough money to pay for a surgery. Maybe when I'm old I'll get it or ifI ever have kids. Can smeone tell me if I'm toally wrong or give me some advice on what to do. Thank you very much

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.
