Does anyone use a hepafilter or air purifier in their homes? I don't have severe allergies, but live in an old home and since living there wake up every morning with guck in my throat. I know the air is full of yuckies and am thinking of getting a hepafilter. Can anyone give me any advice on this? Do they work, how much are they, what ones are good?

Thanks!

I was just researching a TrueAir Ultra UV Air Purifier. It also has a hepafilter. Does anyone know anything about this one? It looks good and runs about $100.

I have two of the Hamilton Beach True Air HEPA air purifiers with the UV light and they have worked very well for me. I put them on auto (that's the setting where they adjust themselves).
I would go with a HEPA air purifier no matter which brand, though. I think I paid $149 or $169 for each of mine. The main thing that made me select that brand in particular was the auto setting.

I have the one that they sell on QVC and on the infomercial. The Ionic Breeze. It seems to give the air a clean feeling, the the room smells fresher. There is a lot of black dirt on the filter when we clean it.

I didn't have as much luck with the Ionic Breeze. I've bought some great hepaFilter air filters, through QVC and HSN. Try to get one with an ionizer. I have found that the hepafilters don't last as long as they claim, and the filters are so expensive that it is almost less costly to just buy another unit. I've bought some good ones for less than $100. The cost depends alot on the size of room.

I got a HEPA air purifier about 2 years ago, and HIGHLY recommend it!

The pre-filter gets filthy within a few weeks - it's amazing how much "gunk" (as you put it) accumulates in the air.

It's almost time for me to replace the main filter.

I have allergies to dust mites and mold spores, among other things.

Good luck!

I own both a Honeywell and a Blue-Air HEPA filter. The Blue-Air is absolutely amazing. It is not very loud at at all even on the highest setting. The Honeywell is very good quality. I ran it almost constantly, but after about 7 years, the motor is starting to wear out.
