View Full Version : Emergency Contraception, birth control and missed period

Hi everyone,

In early February, the condom my fiance and I were using broke. A day later, I went to Planned Parenthood and got Plan B, an emergency contraceptive. 6 days later I began birth control pills, Ortho Novum 7/7/7. I took them like normal, but I was getting very sick. We were still sexually active but we used condoms that did not break this time.

Well, I stopped taking the pills just as I reached the 7 sugar pills or whatever, because we live 700 miles away now and sperm don't swim THAT well :) Well, my period came on time that month, on the 20th. We last had sex on the 17th. I took a pregnancy test just to make sure, and it was negative.

I was due again to have it on the 20th of March but it never came. I had the normal symptoms, the acne and the cramps and the cravings but no period came. I am now..what? 15 days late? A pregnancy test came out negative. I am having no signs of pregnancy, either.

I know that the EC and the BC and mess up your period but I was only on it for about a month. I am under a lot of stress but I have had my period for 7 years (I am 18 now) and have never missed one.

Anyone have any ideas? I have no health insurance so an OBGYN is out of the question and Planned Parenthood is a nightmare to try to get help from.

Sometimes the EC can delay your period and sometimes you might not get a period at all. Since you are that late you might want to make an appointment with your doctor and get a blood pregnancy test done just to be on the safe side. But what you stated is usually normal for the EC.
