I'm on the Birth Cintrol Pill(Otrho tri cylin lo) I was wondering about the the placbo pill. If there are no horomone in these pills. Then how do they keep you from getting pregnant that week. I don't understand that. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks for any help.

Well, I think it's because the pill suppresses ovualtion in the middle of your cycle and that is why. Also, the pill creates a thick mucys like substance around your uterus and that doesn't stop just b/c you are on the placebo week. I'd ask a dr just to be sure...

To further explain upon what the previous poster said:
The pill prevents ovulation. If you don't ovulate, there is no pill to fertilize. But it's imperative to start your pill on time after the placebo week, or you could ovulate, and pregnancy could occur.

That's right. There are no active ingredients in placebo pills. But you are protected during that week for the aforementioned reason.
