I saw Laurie416 ask "How can we help Caregivers or give support to loved ones who are ill?"..I have replied to her but thought I'd post this as well.
I am in the position of being housebound myself .. have been for 2 years due to my body not walking properly .. operations etc. and I thought .. the best thing I find helps me is a simple PHONE CALL. Just to know I'm not forgotten by my few friends makes such a difference to my day!.. It cheers me up to know people care.. and think of me .. keeps me going in this lonely place I'm in at the moment !.. I am married,my husband does a lot for me but works so hard in our business as well, I'm at home all day on my own.. so a call is wonderful!! I know many people work, and haven't got much time to visit etc. .. but when I'm out of this situation , In future, I will be only too aware of those who are Sick or Caregivers at home on their own.. Just a quick call , a letter, an E/Mail.a Card.. it may be all I can do.. but it doesn't cost a thing .. only your time.. Think about it?.. Hope this is of some help?.. belle NZ

Hi there Rainfeather
Thank you for you message .. yes you will know what it's like from both angles , I'd say both as the Caregiver who give of yourself , and watching those who receieve your care , watching the difference a touch, a caring kind word , a hug, a phone call can make.. so true from both sides. I hope others get this message .. may help make a little difference to someones' life ?..
Thank you for the offer to E/Mail but I can't see it in your Profile or am I not doing s/thing right here?.. I'm new to this so if you can let me know , yes , it would be nice to have direct contact .. Love .. belle NZ xxx

Hi belle...

You are right, it is diffrent seeing it from both sides. One of the people I take care of is my Fiance', who was injured 6 years ago on July 15, 1997. He broke his neck and back at work. He has learned to walk 3 diffrent times and, so far so good.
He also has developed Epilepsy, Diabetes, Glaucoma, among other things. I have been so protective over him that at times I think he is thankful that I now take care of the lady across the street who has MD.
She too is wonderful and alot of fun.
Between the two of them and my Mom who is also disabled I keep very busy. We are lucky to have 3 kids left at home who are a big help.
Hang in there, I know things get unreal at times but you will pull through just fine, and it sounds as though your husband is a big help. You are so LUCKY in that aspect, alot of people don't get that support.

I hope you have a wonderful day and everything goes well for you.

Love...Rainfeather
