Has anyone tried this? Has it worked? I am on yasmin and its made me gain 5 pounds. I can barely fit in my jeans. I tried Nuva Ring which gave me yeast infections, and ortho trycyclin lo which made me sick. I want to get off it all and then lose the weight before I get any bigger. The only option would be condoms. I was thinking of getting the ones with spremicide but then I hear a couple disturbing things. I heard spermicide can irritate and that there isnt even enough on the condom to prevent pregnancy. I am only 22 have a 13 months old son and I got pregnant with him the first time I ever had sex while ovulating using the withdrawal method. So now I think I am fertile mertile! I wont rely on the withdrawal method but how much can I rely on condoms?

My husband and I use condoms.
I was going to use the pill, but the very first week I started on it I had horrible side effects so I stopped taking it.
No birth control is 100% effective, but we have been using condoms for almost 3 years now and never had a problem. I wish the pill worked for me because I think I am allergic to latex.

me and my boyfriend use the condoms with spermicide. we have never had any problems with irritations from the spermicide. Sometimes we use extra spermicide too. If you are extreamly worried and think you are very fertile, you could use a number of barrier methods together, like condoms, spermicide, and there is some kind of cervical plug that you can have inserted by a doctor.
another way that me and my boyfriend are extra causious, is: he pulls out immediatly after ejaculation and also, we "test" the condom after we use it. we fill it up with water and squeeze it to make sure there aren't any holes in it.
anyway, i've been using this spermicidal condom method for months and i have not gotten pregnant. I was going to try the pill, but after finding out more about it, it doesn't seem worth it to me because of all the side effects and the fact that i have mental illness (schizophrenia) it would probably make my mental state worse if i took the pill.
also, the top rated condoms for reliability and durability are Trojen and Durrex.
good luck

We do this, I was on birth control last year and stopped because of surgery and just went back on about 2 months ago with a different prescription but have again stopped b/c of dizziness and headaches (i'm hoping it was the pill).
I do have a prescription for Emergency Contraception (EC) as a back up which I highly recommend. It is a high dose of birth control pills and is known also as Plan B.

Oh God, Starsyne...
You don't ovulate 2 weeks AFTER your period ENDS. You ovulate (if you're regular), 2 weeks from the first DAY of your period.
For example.......a period occurs once a month......every 4 weeks.
If you get your period and it lasts for 7 days....then (with your thinking), you then don't think you ovulate for 2 weeks after the end, then you're into the week before your period again, see?
The first day of your period counts as day 1, so 2 weeks from day 1 is usually when you ovulate.
Also, ovulation is when an egg is released from the fallopian tube. The discharge is like an egg white for a lot of women.....
Hope this helps anyone.

I would not rely on this method...EC was never meant to be a form of birth control, but more as a solution to those people whom were in need of emergency care (ie: condom malfunction, rape, bc pill not working due to other prescription medication). It should not be used as the sole form of bc!!!!
I know mayansun mentioned that they have it as a 'back-up' but too many people start this way and end up relying on it as their one and only form of bc.

thanks for the replies. About the ovulation.. You ovulate 2 weeks before the start of your next period. If you dont know when you are supposed to get your period it will be difficult to tell when you will ovulate.
