Hi there!I wish I lived by you!I work with special education students through the school district in my area. The autistic and Downs Syndrome kids are ages 3- about 14 yrs.I would love to do that besides my work in the school district.I even almost put an ad in the paper for tutoring autistic and Downs Syndrome kids or just extra after school help, but I didn't think anyone would call.I love to help them progress!!!

Hello. I live in Utah, we have so many programs and schools designed specifically for autistc children. May I ask how old your child is? I have a nephew who just turned 9, and is autistic. He is high functioning and verbal. He is a BIG boy for his age. His weight and height can be intimidating at times. I worked with a company for 3 years who specializes with autistic individuals. I dealt with mainly group homes and on site training for jobs in the community. Have you checkd out the autisim section on this site? There is a ton of support and many families who are going through the same things you are. Also if you check the Autisim Society of America, they might have some helpful ideas.

Good luck, I know it can be difficult raising a child who is so very special.
