I have Neuropathy was diagnosed back in 95, I've tried Neurontin several different times over the course of the years and it still gave me bad anxiety attacks. I have tried a couple anti depressants but I'm not depressed. Today my rheumy presribed cymbalta, the first anti-depressant approved for diabetic neuropathy (I have neuropathy from Pernicious Anemia, not diabetes)and I was wondering since it is a fairly new drug has anyone tried it and liked it and did it work? What were the side effects you had and did they go away? I really need to know before I try, I don't trust the pharmacueticals ra ra claims on anything anymore, and they snow the Drs into thinking ra ra on these drugs to, so I would like to hear from the general population.

Hi Nancy,I too have a Neuropathy, tried Neurontin for 3 months, didn't seem to work at all.
Started Cymbalta @ 30mg. 3 months and it took away all of my nighttime pain. What a lovely experience.
My feet & hands still hurt so I started 60mg ,10 days ago .The 30mg kicked in the very first night,so I
m quite pleased with Cymbalta!
The only side effect is dry mouth, hot flashes and diarrhea-no big deal.
My feet hurt 24/7 hoping the 60mg will help in that area Soon.Hands also.
Try it,You'll Like It!

I have had two back surgeries and have been diagnosed with Chronic Neuropathic Pain. I am also on nuerontin, percocet...and WAS on Cymbalta for a few months. I noticed a difference almost immediately. However, I had very serious sexual side effects. As a newly married (9 months) 25 year old woman I could not deal with this so I contacted my doctor. I have NO sexual desires what so ever and am not able to achieve an orgasm. My doc just prescribed me Ludomil. I have not started it yet as I am weaning myself off of Cymbalta. I am interested to see how this onbe works out.
I hope that Cymbalta works out for you. Good luck!!!

My doctor put me on cymbalta for pain and it has helped. I have Fibromyalgia and I also have abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment. With the cymbalta I need to take pain meds a lot less.

I take Cymbalta for neuropathy due to Lyme's Disease and have been fairly happy. Pain has been reduced significantly and I havn't noticed any affects except when combined when other meds, makes me sleepy, so I take it at night, problem solved.

I have been diagnosed with central nerve pain (not syndrome but in one area - "phantom pain"). I've been reading about cymbalta and am curious to know if it could help since nothing I've tried has so far. From what I've read, all the studies have been done on people with peripheral neuropathies (diabetic and postherpatic). Anyone know if it has also proven beneficial for central pain? Also, anyone know when it will be available in Canada?

What scares me about this new drug is it will turn out like vioxx and the like. Works so good it will kill you. It just seems like a good working med turns out that way. It may be in canada, ask your Dr, then again maybe canada knows something we don't. I'm still scared to try it but I will in time. So far others who have taken is seem happy with it.
