Hi everybody,
for the last couple of months I have noticed that I seem to get muscle twiches mostly in my legs but can be in other parts of the body when I am tired and resting. I dont usually notice it throughtout the day only when I am resting. I think its called fasciculation but I had a look on the internet and it sais that it might be ASL and thats what got me really nervous.
I have no other signs except the twiches and they usually occur if I am worried or tense or maybe when I am thinking about it. The twiching is like something is jumping up under my skin and its usually happens about 10 times a day or even more and last for a couple of seconds. I can see it slightly and feel it. The twitching doesnt hurt but its really annoying.
Sometimes I dont have it and begin to forget about it but then it starts all over again for a day and carries on.
I dont do alot of sport and I have a healthy died(a bit over weight tho) but my mum thinks I am paranoid and that I am imagining things.
I am not usually a guy who worries but after looking on the internet it got me worried.
Do I need to go and see a GP? Do you think its something serious or even life threatening like ASL or I just need to get a life? Please help me. ;)
Also may it be because I have a quite good but sometimes stressfull life? :bouncing:
Thank you very much!

Most muscle twitches in a healthy 16 y/o (or in anyone else for that matter) are normal. They can happen after exercise, when you're stressed, or when you get tired. The muscle fibers just fire off a little, and you get the twitch. (Do you have tests coming up? Or have you not been getting enough sleep?). I had an eye twitch that lasted a good part of 1 month one time.
From another site online:
Considerations:
Muscle twitching is the result of minor local muscle contractions or the uncontrollable twitching of a single muscle group served by a single motor nerve fiber or filament.
Muscle twitches are minor and often go unnoticed. Some are common and normal, while others indicate a neurologic disorder.
Common Causes:
Benign, nonpathologic fasciculations (not caused by disease or disorders)
Often affect the eyelids, calf, or thumb
Normal and quite common, often triggered by stress or anxiety
A diet deficiency
Drug overdose
Drug side effect (such as diuretics, corticosteroids and estrogens)
Exercise
