Hello- I have been waiting for 2 years, I get a letter 03/13 / 2005, saying that have a decision of" fully favorable"!!!!!.. I called my Attorney she already had the information... I had been waiting for Appeal date.. The Attorney did not have much information ,about when the Appeal would be, so I gave up!!! So I had No Appeal!!! I will tell you I went through heck waiting, I think they want a person to just give up. I had a bllod clot and bleed in the brain (a stroke..)

I had to stay on top of everything I went to my doctor every 2 or 3 months.
I had to get b12 injections, Often times every month.. I had several cat scans in the past 2 years plus a week stay in the critical care neuro. I had lot's of pain. I also had to go to 2 of the SSI Doctors. The first testing lasted 4 hours!!!!! The 2nd testing was only one hour.

I had just given up.. I had a friend who works for the SSI, she told me it is very long and lots of paper work.

I am not for sure what happens now.. All my Attorney said is a law judge reviewed the case and made the decision for me...She said it raley happens that way.

COuld anyone tell me If I will get another letter??( with the amount I will be getting..) I have heard that often times a check will come then my friend said I will get a letter and have to go to the Social security office...

I wish everyone lot's of Luck and be sure to have patience.. Because it is a long process. Thank you all

Leather Green, I am so happy for you!!! I have heard several different things, some get their deposit without knowing it until they check their account. Others have said they got their first check on the following month and had to wait for back pay. You should get some answers pretty soon from the ones that know for sure. I sure like to hear of the ones who finally made it. I hope with the less stress you will have now that you feel better. God belss.

I filed for ssdi in Oct 04, on December 8th, there was a direct deposit in my checking account for all my back pay and the following month my check for that month was there. I wasn't notified by ss that I have a favorable decision until 3 weeks after the initial deposit. I am in Florida. Good luck to all.

Please keep in mind that the $579.00 figure is federal funding only. Some states, such as California, supplement the federal amount with state monies so that SSI recipients can receive in excess of $800.00 per month.

Leather,

First, congratulations on getting approved. I know from experience it takes quite a while.

I went before the appeals judge and got my letter of approval a few weeks later. I got my back Social Security Disability deposited in my checking account and didn't realize it until a few days later. I got approval in November and got my back payment in Feb. Then about two weeks later I got a letter telling me what my monthly payment would be. Before I actually got the letter I called SS and they told me what my monthly payment would be. It may take a few weeks after approval to get you into the system.

Also, once you have been on Social Security Disability for 2 years you qualify for Medicare. I got my card this month.

Take care and again congratulations on your approval.

Kay
