I was wondering if anyone who has been dealing with CTS started out with transient tingling sensations of the hand/wrist? I have had this in the right hand for about 4 years now but mine is only during the day - not at night like all the literature talks about. I know that is a long time but it doesn't seem to have progressed much beyond that except for I think it happens more often now than it used to. Like some of you, I have also had other problems with the same hand. I have osteoarthritis of the basal thumb joint in that hand, a ganglion cyst on that wrist that has been there for years (but doesn't hurt), a tennis elbow on the same side, and shoulder pain that mainly occurred at night only for about 2 years although it finally seemed to go away recently. I don't know if there is a connection between all of these symptoms or if it is just that I am right-handed so I overuse the right hand and arm. If anyone has any ideas about this or started out the same way, please let me know. Thanks.

Yes mine was sort of like that also. I found Actie Release Therapy works really well in loosening up the muscles from overuse. See my message below on "non-invasive treatment" for more information.

JB,
Thanks for your response. How is your hand now? Do you still have tingling sensations? I can't find your message below-where?-on "non-invasive treatment". If I do a google search for Actie Release Therapy will I find some info? I already had surgery on my left hand last fall for very painful osteoarthritis that was unrelieved by conservative treatment - joint injections and NSAIDS. The surgery helped but I swore I would NEVER have hand surgery again - I guess I would if the pain ever got that bad again but I would rather not. Thanks again.

Yes my arm, hand, neck and back of shoulders are fine now. I also had my thyroid looked at as I was having symptoms of thyroid disorder. Carpal tunnel can come from that also. My message is about the 10th one below. Look for my name JB* in the name box. Search Dr. Leahy, Active Release Therapy.
