My mother is 80 years old and has ms. She uses a cane in order to get around and she holds that cane in the hand that she will be having surgery for carpel tunnel. Her dr told her that she only needs three days to recover and she should be fine. I'm concerned that she will reinjure her wrist when she goes back to using her cane. Any suggestions.

Do not believe it will only take 3 days to feel better.Granted, everyone is different but that is unrealistic. It takes a good 6 weeks to regain full use of your hand and 1 full year for it to be completely healed. There are things you just can't do right away, button buttons, tie shoes, cut your food ,etc....At least that was my experience and I had it on both hands.
