Hi,
over the last few weeks i have notice a mole or something that resembles one forming on my cheek. It is quite small but i know that it wasn't there even at Christmas....i was looking back through recent photos..

It is not evenly shaped...not a circle or a oval...and it is light brown on one side and black on the other.
I did look up on the internet about the ABCD's of the moles and am worried as it is all of those but the size.
I am thinking of seeing my doctor about it....but...I kinda feel funny.
I have been to my doc so much in the last few months for other things...fighting Bronchitis( for 4 months now) and stuff...that with this i am sure he will think i am a nut!
I don't have a lot of moles...and don't know a lot about them.
I am very fair...lots of freckles...blue eyes and reddish hair...

just not sure what to do...am i being pariond....should i wait and see if it continues to get bigger?
I was thinking of waiting a couple weeks...then if it is still there i will go in.

thanks,
twiggy

I know that feeling of being worried. It can eat away at you and make your life stressful. The only way that you will get peace of mind is to go to the doctor. If you are uncomfortable going to the same doctor that you have been to recently, then how about seeing a dermatologist. Tell him you are there because of a suspicious mole and that you would like to get your whole body checked while you are at it.

If you insurance won't let you see a specialist without seeing your regular GP first, then just go see him/her. Your peace of mind is more important than what your GP might think of you. You might be surprised he/she might like you because you are his bread & butter!!

We have all experienced times where it seemed like we spent more time at the doctor's office than we did at home. We just cross our fingers that next year will be different!

thank you for your response...
I called a dermatologists office and was told that for a first time visit i have to have a referall from my doctor ( I live in Canada)
This morning i was looking (and picking a bit )at the mole...and the black parts of it came off...it is very sensative.
Would the black parts come off it was cancer? maybe it was scabbing or something?
I will see if they come back...if they do i will go to my doc.

Thank you again for your response..

hi..
i did something foolish with it...kinda picked at it..and it went away...scabbed over...and i thought it was gone..
but over the last few weeks...it has come back...not completely like before...not raised or diff colors ( yet anyway) so i am watching it..

funny how they can just appear...

Because this is on your check, I would go see your dermatologist. I had a BCC on my nose that was growing for a long time. I had to have MOHS where they cut the tissue four times to remove all of the cancer.

When I noticed a small bump under my eye that kept growing after two months I went to the derm. The biopsy was BCC again. This time the MOHS only cut once.

Both times the derm thought that it was not BCC.

I am not trying to frighten you, it is just that the sooner you find out, the smaller the tissue removal will be.

If it was on your arm or leg, I would just say "lets wait and see."
