There are non-surgical ways of getting rid of carpel tunnel. Carpel tunnel is caused by either a shortening of the carpel tunnel space in your wrist (the sheet of connective tissue covering the tunnel can shorten), or you can have tendonitis in one or more of the tendons going through the tunnel.
All that needs to be done to get rid of it is to stretch out the connective tissue, or decrease the inflamation and scar tissue on the tendons.
Here (Canada) this can be done by a massage therapist, but from what i've read about the regulations in the us for massage therapists they generaly don't learn any advanced techniques in the courses required to be a massage therapist. If your interested in this rather than surgery you should call around to massage therapy clinics (registered or licenced) and ask if they have the training required to work on carpel tunnel, or you can try physiotherapy clinics and see if they have massage therapists who can help solve the problem, or any other therapists on staff who can.
You do not need surgery to solve the problem. I'm sure there are cases where surgery may be the only option, but in most cases it is not necessary.
you can email me or contact me on icq if you have any questions.
