I was diagnosed with endometriosis about ten years ago. I was bleeding between periods, then soon bleeding non-stop. Laproscopic surgery was used to diagnose the problem, then I had a D&C, and took depot- Luprin shots for six months.. problem solved. I was married at the time. Well, our marriage got rocky, and we split up 3 years ago.. I began dating .. everything was fine. Two years ago, I met my current boyfriend. I have never cheated on him, and he hasn't cheated on me.. believe me... I know this. Well, I recently was able to get health insurance.. I havent had any coverage in about 8 years.. so no paps etc. But during the last year or two, I have had some unusual bleeding, pelvic pain etc that I assumed was due to my endometriosis. So when I went for a doctors visit, they ran lots of tests. Come to find out.. I tested positive for Gonorrhea!! I know that men with gonorrhea are in severe pain with constant discharge.. my boyfriend doesn't have it! And we have been having unprotected sex for the last 18 months! He always urinates and washes himself immediately after sex, so I think that he flushes it out. Thank God. So I have had this STD for over 2 years without even knowing it! I've had no symptoms.. they say that over 80% of women don't show symptoms, and 10% of men don't either. The mild symptoms I did have, I blew off as being hormonal! This disease, if untreated, can cause severe damage in the long run..like arthritis, pelvic imflamitory disease ect. If you haven't been checked out in a while.. please do!! Even if you are in a monogomous relationship. Believe me.. I am not a ****.. I'm a good girl.. I think that my ex must have given it to me. The hardest day of my life was yesterday when I had to tell my boyfriend that I had a STD. Thankfully, he is standing by me..after 2 years. I don't think that I would have been as understanding. But the message here is to get checked out!! My only symptoms were adominal bloating, pain in my abdomen and back during menstration, once in a while bleeding between periods.. nothing else!! No discharge, no odor, no itching, no sores.. Just get checked out.
