Hello everyone. I have to make this short, sweet, and to the point. My hand won't hold out long. I am 16, and two years ago was diagnosed with possible CTS. Am I like that ONLY kid that young to have it? I'm just curious, because I feel like some kind of freak, being 16 years old and having a disorder that normally "old" (sorry) people get. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

yes, 16 is young to get it. I was diagnosed at 30 with it. when my doctor saw my EMG he could not believe someone at my age had such a severe case. I wish you luck.........

I'm sorry to say, but it's not too young to get cts. I'm 18 now, and I got cts back in June of 1999. I was 16, and nobody thought that it could be a possibilty. At first, nobody believed there was anything wrong. I had a little tingling, but that was it. Eventually I convinced my parents to take me to a neurologist. That is the first step you need to take opn the long journey you have ahead of you.

I am 20, I work in the computer industry, and while I have not actually gone to the doc to be diagnosed, I will bet $500 that I have it.
It is mostly in my dominant hand, and OH MY GOD does it hurt sometimes. It's mostly in my wrist and I feel so old sometimes when I am trying to empty the dishwasher and I can't even open the cupboards. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
Anyone have any suggestions that might help?

Hey, don't feel that your teh only one with ct. or the ct symptoms.. I am 18 and for teh last 2 years at the least I have had the symptoms of carpal tunnel. Mine is to the point of being extrememly sevre, but I still
use bvoth my hands everyday.
I am currently in the midst of seeing alot of specialist for my hands and they are all trying to decide if surgery would help and if my hand problems are connected to other health problems I have like heart disease.
best of luck and cheers!

Hang in there. Remember that ur first zit wasn't the end of the world. Our son made it thru the big sandbox over with the 'bagdaddies" and then came home to lose his right hand in an industrial accident. Didn't think he would survive mentally but THANK GOD he is 40 times the man I thought he was. Good luck.

This is the price we pay for computer and Internet addiction.
Also, some may not like to hear this, but one of my doc. says that Carpal Tunnel and other peripheral neuropathy may be an underlying sign of STD infection (ie HIV, Herpes Simplex Virus Neuralgia, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis).
Be sure to have the blood checked for any other underlying causes. If you treat the cause, these symptoms might go away.
Also, try wrist exercises and stretches. Rub and massage the areas where the pain is coming from. Ice it with a pad or water, and it usually helps. Always wear the brace during sleep time.

I'm 14, and I have CTS. So, I don't think it's too young.
