Apparently I have a bad home BP monitor. (Lifesource 702 model) I went to see Herr Doktor yesterday for a check up and brought my monitor with me because I had a *sneaking* suspicion that it was giving me readings that seemed too low. REALLY low...like 90/50. Now I'm a reasonably healthy guy all told but take a BP med and was pretty fired up that I could stop the med because I was through that phase but NO! Not meant to be! We ran it vs. his and it came in waaay low every time. I've had the monitor for a couple of years and it's been banged around some and it looks like it's lost it's juice. Sadly, I am only a 117/70 kind of guy. That's still pretty cool but only enough to reduce my med, not stop it. Arrrrgh. Just venting here. Good luck everybody!

117/70 isn't enough to get off the meds??? I think someone is getting a kick back from the drug companies here! It seems to me that the docs keep pushing normal further and further down! pretty soon they'll say, "Ah... they have some pressure, they aren't dead, put 'em on pills!" Some doctors are like that! Could you change doctors? Something doesn't sound right. (a doctor won't usually put you on medication unless you are over borderline - 140/90... ) questions need to be raised Captian.

Nothing to be alarmed about I promise. My BP problem goes back three years and used to be really, really bad. Used to have to take tons of drugs and it still wouldn't budge. After lots of lifestyle changes and whatnot I'm down to one drug once a day and the pressure's looking nice...just not as low as I thought b/c of the bad news home monitor. Now I have to watch the real readings (bought a new one) for a couple of months to see if I can drop the last drug. Thanks for the concern though...

See, it's just that my friend's daughter passed out from a 90/50 bp and that is what the doctor said it was, he said that is too low... I just don't like seeing someone being on a drug unless it's absolutely necessary (I sound like a doctor or something saying *I* don't like seeing it! LOL! But seriously, I don't...) I have a bad attitude about doctors, as you can tell...
