Can one engage in oral sex? I recently was treated for a mild case of Bacterial Vaginosis and was prescribed oral Metronizadole for treatment. I have completed treatment and have no obvious symptoms of the infection left. My boyfriend loves to go down on me and has been asking when he can do it again. I'm wondering (I forgot to ask my doc) if there is a period of time that one should wait? Or should oral be something that I shouldn't engage in after having an infection like that at all?

Some say oral sex contributes to infections because of bacteria, but I certainly wouldn't let that keep me from getting it. I'm quite sure oral sex isn't the culprit with BV as much as semen b/c it changes the vaginal pH. Your infection is cleared, so if I were you I'd go ahead and do it. My bf and I do it all the time and I've seen no correlation between that and my BV flare-ups. BV is the biggest nuisance EVER, but I'll be darned if I'm going to let the fear of a flare-up keep me from getting oral!! :nono:
