Ok, I had that other question on the sleeping, and forgot to ask: So, does anyone else find that they can't remember dreaming very often? Is this alsoa trait of depression and does anyone know why? (Like, is it because they don't sleep well that they never fall into REM sleep?)

I'm just looking to understand depression better because my boyfriend has it, and none of the pills he's tried has helped.

hi, i'm definitely no expert on this, but thought i would share my own experiences. My sleep has been disrupted a lot, but i have quite vivid dreams, which is strange as i never used to remeber my dreams at all. I even get a bit confused about things that have happened and things i have dreamt! But what you describe could be part of the depression JUST as much as my experiences could be. It seems to me that symptoms vary between people.

By the way, i hope you don't mind me saying but i think it is great you are doing what you can to support your boyfriend, and it will be of great help to him. :)

James.

I have terrible difficulty sleeping (especially falling asleep). But when I actually manage to, I have what are known as "lucid"dreams (i.e. dreams where you actually know that you dreaming!). It's very weird, paradoxical even: you're alseep (so you're unconscious) but in your dream you know that you're dreaming (so you conscious)!

Does anyone else have these sort of dreams? Are they anything to do with depression?

Indeed, it's difficult to go into REM sleep when depressed. It's a normal SYMPTOM. Please see your doctor soon for help, you'll feel better.
