marcy_25 04-11-2005, 02:26 PM my hair is so dry and damaged, and it seems nothing i use to help works, so if anyone knows of anything to do or use to help my hair get back to normal, and its old soft, shiny way, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks Sponsor tryin2getfit 04-11-2005, 03:17 PM My hair used to be really damaged from coloring, hot irons and blow dryers. I like Daily Renewal 5X Rehydrating conditioner. You can get it at Wal Mart and it works great. Also, once a week I use a deep conditioner, I leave it on, put a shower cap over it, and then shoot the blowdryer up into the shower cap so the heat infuses the conditioner and I let it dry before I rinse it out. I also switched from a permanent hair color to a temporary hair color. You have to color a little more often (about twice a month for me, my color says it washes out in 8-10 shampoos), but since its temporary theres no ammonia or peroxide, so it doesn't damage your hair. Hope this helps! leslie0784 04-12-2005, 01:36 AM To get your hair back to normal you need to have weekly deep conditions and then use Redken Extreme Anti-Snap. It's a leave-in treatment you put on damp hair that prevents breakage while your hair restores. The entire Redken Extreme line is amazing to revive damaged hair. Once your hair starts to get healthy again use a thermal styler like KMS Flat Out before you blowdry or straighten your hair. And the one product I can't live without it KMS Silker Therapy Plus and it makes your hair really silky which will make your hair look AWESOME while your hair is getting back to normal. I used to work at a Salon so I'm a total hair product junkie! All of those products did wonders for my hair. I hope this helps. marcy_25 04-12-2005, 07:52 AM thanks for the info. i was thinking about going back to the hair dye that washes out, but i thought it would ruin my hair just the same, but i think i shall do it anyways. i shall try the treatments yall wrote about, and hope it works for me. Saybrook 04-13-2005, 05:29 AM I have curly hait that's long. It's been high lighted and I found that recently it's also not as soft and very dry. Can you help? frustrated35 04-15-2005, 08:57 AM I have my hair colored and highlighted. To keep it looking shiny and smooth I use Garnier Frutise (not sure how to spell it) Sleek & Shine. Green bottle, orange writing......Works for me! Moon Rising 04-15-2005, 11:39 PM I agree with frustrated35! I've tried a ton of different hair products, and I keep going back to Garnier. I just love it, and it's CHEAP. I use the long and strong line. --moon leslie0784 04-17-2005, 04:24 AM for long curly hair you should try Redken Heat Treat and Butter. The Heat treat calms your long hair and curl hair is the driest of all hair types so you need a very rich conditioner which is butter. Use Butter twice a week and heat treat every day for about a week and you'll see huge improvements. Then get a strengthening oil for it and it will stay healthy much longer. Hope this helps. Hersheykiss 04-18-2005, 04:32 PM Most of the time when you have dry hair its a problem from the inside not the outside. Omega 3 fats are wonderful for the hair especially fish oil. I personally use cod liver oil 2x a week and have had wonderful results. My hair is naturally curly and I had problems with extreme frizziness, no body and no control over it. I also get my hair colored every 6 weeks. I only use Aveda hair products (including color). Love them. melanie in mary 04-20-2005, 02:27 PM HERSHEYKISS, DO YOU JUST SWALLOW THE COD LIVER OIL OR PUT IT ON YOUR HAIR AS A TREATMENT? I want to try your suggestions and want to make sure that I get it right. thanks :) |
