View Full Version : Should I hurry to the Doctor?

I've had a significant tremor for over 10 years, and some other symptoms for the past 3 years. About 2 weeks ago I developed L'Hermitte's sign and it has been getting worse (it is almost constant now). Searching for info on the "vibrating sensation in my spine" finally led me to an MS site. I'm just wondering if I need to rush to the doctor...

Hello and welcome.

Have you seen a doctor about any of these symptoms over the last 10 years? If not, I would make an appointment to start figuring out what is going on. Unfortunately, rushing to the doctor is almost impossible, especially a specialist. But you should try to get in while your symptoms are active. An MRI with contrast might pick up the current activity if it is MS.

What are some of the other symptoms you've had in the last three years?

Take care,
Julie

An E.R. is usually the best bet because they can give you a refferal to a specialist and you can get in alot quicker that way.

Other symptoms for me include:
Vision problems, fatigue, dizziness, pain when walking or standing, depression.

All of the symptoms you've listed are experienced by people with MS. You should make an appt. Whether it is MS or not, a good doctor should be able to hopefully uncover the cause, or at the very least give you tools to manage your symptoms. You shouldn't continue living with all of these unexplained symptoms.

As far as the urgency, I've found that when a patient acts frantic and tries to push for an immediate appt., they are not treated as well. It seems to rub the office help the wrong way. Go figure. But I do think you should get into a doctor soon.

Good luck!
Julie

Thank you. I'm actually not as frantic today as I was before I found a name for the L'Hermitte's Sign, THAT was freaking me out!
