Ok.. Ive never had a miscarriage before but, I think I might have had one.. can anyone tell me if they think I have.. I always have bad cramps when I have my period.. but this time they were worse.. I started yesterday morning.. well they were bad all day and I was bleeding quite a bit more than usual for me.. well I went to the bathroom and I saw quite a few clots.. one was really big.. so I looked down at it.. it looked odd so I picked it up out of the toliet (gross I know) and it had some grayish material in it and it was sort of hard.. Kind of freaked me out.. I told my husband and he automatically thought it was miscarriage.. could someone help me here? I feel fine today.. cramps arent bad bad anymore..

I know that every once in a while I will have a very bad period- with lots of blood and cramps. It may have been just a really heavy period.

Have you called your Dr? I had a horrible AF before I got pregnant. More blood and HORRIBLE cramps but nothing like you described. Two weeks after I delivered my son ('99)I had grayish like material come out and it ended up being my dumb *** doctor didn't get all the afterbirth BUT that was after I had my son. If I were you I'd call my doctor unless everything is OK now.

I am alright now.. I mean like I said before.. I have always had bad cramps due to my period.. I had my ovary removed 3 months after I had my son.. due to a cyst.. still have my left one.. doctors told me I wouldnt have a problem getting preggo again.. 4 years later.. still never preggo.. then this happens.. I dunno.. just read about miscarriages online said that if its early on.. you can pass gray or pink material in blood clots so that is why I asked..

It's possible that you could have been pregnant. Did your period show up late or was it on time. It if showed up late then there is a greater chance that you were very eary into a pregnancy, without auctually getting a blood test from the doctor there is no way to know for sure. I had a very early miscarriage at 5 weeks and I passed some large blood clots just like you described, a blood test had confirmed that I had been pregnant, but had miscarried.

Hello! I think navysab asked a good question. Was your period late at all? You typically wouldn't see anything grayish before six weeks (about two weeks late for your period).

Grayish material may also be endometrial tissue (just shedding your lining) but it's usually pink and meaty.

It's very possible you had a miscarriage. Sometimes HCG can still be detected up to two weeks after so it may be wise to have your doctor run the HCG if you'd like to know for sure.

If you saved the tissue you passed then your doctor could also do tests to see what it is.

It sounds very probable that you miscarried. Contact your doctor if your bleeding picks up or if you start running a fever.

With irregular periods it's hard to say when they'll return but typically fertility picks up where it left off within 6 weeks of an early miscarriage. You may ovulate as early as a couple of weeks so if you do not desire a pregnancy take the appropriate precautions :) . Of course if you'd like to be pregnant many doctors like you to have at least one normal period before "trying" to conceive again. If you do get pregnant again before your next period it's nothing to worry about; it will most likely go well for you.

Finding out you may have been pregnant by having a miscarriage can be rough. I hope you're doing OK with this possibility; let us know.

To be honest.. I dont think Id want to know for sure or not.. I mean I already think I did and that is enough for me.. I was so sad not knowing for sure but, believing I did.. I dont think I could handle it if I did know absoultely that I had.. I am fine now.. no fever and no bleeding now.. thanks for all your help everyone..

I just had a miscarriage and it started out with bleeding tht just kept gettng heavier until I to had a lot of blood with a greyish color little round ball. That turned out to be the blighted ovum that never continued and died at the early stages of developement. I thought it was all over and I had a little more energy and even got out of bed and went shopping the next morning. That afternoon, the cramping came back and lasted until I fell alseep. When I woke up the next morning, I went to the bathroom and when I did, I felt something slimy fall out of me into the toilet. I looked down and it was a huge blood clot. I actually took it out of the toilet to bring to the doctor. It looked like the placenta. The placenta and sac continued to grow while the embry died early and never grew past a tiny ball. I have photos of them all, but I know they are all too gruesome to share. I felt better after I passed it all. It took about 4 days to complete the bleeding and cramps. I feel a little bit better now, but am still low on energy and had to stay in bed a couple days after even still as I would get cramps if I walked around too much, like the mall or store. It has been a week now, and I have been working and such, but am still low on energy.
Hope that helps.
