I have been suffering from heart palps, hot flashes, anxiety, sleep disturbances and my family doc thinks I should check my hormones through this salavia (spelling) and urine testing. Has anyone have these symptoms with hormone imbalance?? Test are really expensive so I was weighing my options.

Saliva tests are the least expensive from some national labs $100 to $200 for a complete male & female series. The blood tests costs 10X more than saliva.

I ordered a saliva test kit from ZRT Laboratory several months ago so I don't really remember what the cost was (seems like $60.00 or so). But, I know it wasn't very costly because I couldn't afford it. This is the same lab that Suzanne Sommers endorses. They are very professional. I had the exact same symptoms as you. I did have a whole series of blood work done and my estrogen and progesterone were both low (this was 3 yrs ago when I turned 40). I felt anxious constantly, my heart would race when I got hot flashes, etc. It was horrible. I finally went to my gynocologist who put me on a low dose birth control pill and everything went away.

They say that it is the fluctuation of the hormones during perimenopause that causes the symptoms, therefore by evening out the hormones with the pill, you don't have the ups and downs so you don't get all of those crazy symptoms. It works for me and before this I felt like I could barely function!
