At the end of January and through the first week of February I had a really bad kidney infection...I don't think the infection was totally cleared up; since then I have randomly had really sharp pains in either the left or right lower quadrent, sometimes both. I haven't had any pain for a few weeks until a few days ago so I thought things were finally better. However, the past few days my left lower quadrent has been giving me sharp pains off and on, it hurts more to walk, and when I urinate. I also feel like I have to go to the bathroom all the time, even if I really don't. Could this be another infection? The pain this time isn't nearly as bad as it was when I had the infection, but it's still very bothersome. The last time it came on very suddenly while I was driving and I was totally leveled for about a week. I didn't have any symptoms whatsoever beforehand. Not the case this time. If anyone has any thoughts on this I would greatly appreciate it.

The only thought I have is possible stones. I have a friend who has a lot of problems with them. The episodes can come on very quick or off and on and any variation really. They can also lead to the infection that you had. So you could have lingering infection, but also I wouldnt rule out kidney stones. They are very painful to have and you will feel pains as they work there way down your ureters until eventually you pass them. Less likely is that they actually get stuck which is both painful and almost always leads to chronic infection until the situation is found.

yeah today was pretty bad, I was in horrible pain this morning and couldn't stand up straight at all. But within about 3 hours I was fine. The thing is, I don't have the back pain that I did before and I'm not in extreme pain 24 hours a day, so that kind of confuses me. I'm thinkin I'll give it another week or so and if things get worse I'll hit up the doctor.
