My 16 yr. old daughter has been having a dry cough that keeps her up at night. She says she has a bad tickle in her throat. She is extremely moody...says it's because she's not getting any sleep from the cough. It is also allergy time and just want to know if this is something to check into further, or just treat as allergies. She also says she feels a wheezing in her chest. Also, she is tired all the time. Thank you in advance.

It could be Asthma, but the tickling in the throat sounds like sinuses. When my sinuses acts up that is usually what happens to me. First my nasal starts to drip down to my throat and it causes me to cough and I usually get a sore throat from it. All of the coughing does make me tired, and eventually I get a cold from it, if I don't start taking something to try and stop it. I would try sinus medication, but still take her to the doctor and let them determine what is wrong.

It does sound like allergy but allergies can definately trigger asthma attachs. This does in both of my daughters. It's a vicious cycle. Both my two year old and my four year old have asthma.
My oldest (4 years old) has been really moody lately. In fact I told my mom if she wasn't 4 I would think she had PMS. She's had a persistant cough for about 2 - 3 weeks. She's on Flovent and Xopenex. The doctor said if she's still coughing by next week to bring her back in.
