I've been on HRT for 5 years now, following my total hysterectomy. I am 48 now. I know HRT is still controversial and I am not sure how long I want to stay on it. I take Estrodial low dose daily. I also have high blood pressure and I know estrogen can elevate BP. So if any of you are on or were on, HRT how long do you plan to stay on it, and if you went off, what changes did you experience, if any? I am afraid of drying up and turning into an old woman!

I had a total hyst 4 years ago due to endo. I went on lupron before surgery which put me in complete menopause, for 3 months. After surgery I had to wait 3 more months to go on hrt. I went on the climara patch which has been great..but the endo came back after a few months so I had to go off again for 4 months. I doing good on it now and have no plans to go off again..Im 45, my mother is 70 and has been on hrt since her 40s with no problems.

It was doable without hormones and if I had to I could do without it but I feel so normal with them, only no pms..The biggest problem I had without was the hotflashes and vaginal dryness, which I did use a vaginal estrogen cream for.

Not sure what I would do if I had high blood pressure, mine is low, always has been. What has your Dr said about it?

Wow, I didn't know endo could come back if you had a hysterectomy. I thought the surgery was a cure for it? I need to talk to my dr. about how long to stay on HRT when my next annual exam comes up. Thanks for the reply.
