I'm wondering if anyone can give me any ideas of a chemo treatment that worked well for them. I went through 6 months of Avastin with Folfox and then had a break. After 2 months the cancer started progressing again so I went back on the same therapy. It's been a month and the blood work is indicating that it's not working! I'm having scans done on Monday to see what's going on. I'm scared because I was told that the therapy I've been on is the best that there is for colon cancer. So I'm wondering what type of chemo I would try next. I would appreciate any ideas you could give me to ask the doc. about next week. I'm am very scared!!! Thanks in advance for your help!

hi sarahtp

hope you start getting some answers soon. You are indeed getting a good treatment regime but I think there are other chemo combos that they can offer. A friend of mine recently went onto xeloda/avastin combo when he had his 4th relapse in 7 years.

There are also monoclonal antibody type drugs like erbitux (cetuximab) which can also be used in some cases where chemo is not working. I think these can also be used in combo with conventional chemo too. There are other drugs of this type but I cannot remember names. I do not know if they would be effective for you but maybe it is worth discussing with your docs to see if they have considered them.

good luck sarah, keep us posted
