It's on my face near my eye and a little red, but it's only been two months. charlodius 04-19-2005, 03:29 PM Some research suggests that silicone products (sheeting, mepiform, otoform etc.) will soften and flatten scars. There is not as much hard research on the topic as I would prefer, but what ever is used, pressure should be applied to the scar. Pressure helps re-allign the collogen fibers of the scar so that they reposition in the same direction, making a flatter scar. Compression can be applied via a garment (like a Jobst) or by some custom strapping. For scars on the face I would suggest a head strap. Scars on the hand do well with compressive gloves, with silicone placed under the garment. You can also massage the scar with deep, circular motions to help break it up |
