until less than a year ago, i used to have nice hair - smooth, shiny, uniform color - but now the new hair that's growing in is getting poorer and poorer quality... it's not smooth anymore, and something very strange is happening to the color - segments along the length of my strands are "clear," as if the follicle(s) are producing melanin only intermittently... and, because the surface coloring is getting mixed like that, it's also looking very dull...
i once tried a supplement for my hair, and it was fabulous, but it's not having any effect on me this time... could i be so malnourished that this is a nutritional thing? anyone who's taken the time to read this, i really appreciate it and if you have any ideas on what i could do - internally or topically - i would be so grateful... i am already hiding my hair, and as this continues to get worse, i won't want anyone to see it :(

Hi, that is also happening to me too and it has been happening for the past year or so and it is so annoying because it makes my hair look fried and dull looking. I've tried lots of products but hardly any work. I use garnier Fructise long and strong and it tames it a little bit. But anyways, hopefully someone will reply to your post. I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one.

hey! what a freaky coincidence - both of us suffer from this problem and both of us are using the same shampoo (the new "long and strong")! i wonder if there could be any connection! i have been disappointed w/ the shampoo (it leaves my hair feeling - i don't know - rough?) but haven't wanted to waste it, so now that it's almost empty i am going to switch - if i find ANYthing that helps, i will absolutely post it for you! since we can't contact each other. thank you so much for just giving support...

Hi again, well .. i used patene pro-v for a long while, and that ruined my hair even more, but garnier fructise doesnt i dont think..? I haven't been using it long enough to notice, and i have read a lot of posts about the salon shampoo, and they really seem that they help a bit more than regular shampoo but they are really pricey!:( anyways.. ttyl!

did i mention pantene? because that is exactly the brand i was going to switch to, myself! i came across a bottle of the previous formula (not the new "amino" pro-v one) of "hydrating curls," and it does feel softer so far! so today i went out and bought the current ("amino" pro-v) conditioner in the "smooth and sleek" formula - which is what i want, my hair to be smooth and sleek! :) if i get any results, i'm going to run out and buy the updated shampoo in the same formula, and i will let you know! :)

hey :) update! no feedback on the new conditioner yet, BUT i tried the "overnight repair intensive treatment" packet, and i think it made a big difference! my hair actually looks SHINY again :D , and is a lot less rough - after just one use! i think this might help you too, and i hope you can get some and that it does! just one note: they say it will absorb and not leave hair greasy, but it left my semi-long hair "crispy," even the next morning. so don't bank on being able to show off your hair before a shower :) ...that said, the reason i didn't put just ANY deep conditioner in my hair overnight, is because they said this would absorb and not be so messy, so since it was, i'm going to try small amounts of other deep conditioners overnight too :) and i will update! take care :)
