Hi Shelby,
Sorry I have not wrote back,Been kinda depressed. The doctor put me back in the cast for another 2 weeks. Then I start therepy. I still have some pain. I seen the cut she made and took a picture of it. It is accross my elbow and is about 4 in. yucky.
Plus I am worried about my son who left for army basic training (he is 17)
oh well enough about me, How are you doing? Do you have much pain still? Are you in a cast? Have you seen the sight yet?
Well I will try and write more later. Take care.
Hope your doing well
hugs Chele

Hey there,
I have a 3.5" incision across the right elbow and a 1" incision in the palm of my right hand. Both sites get very stiff and painful at times but soaking in a warm tub helps. The stitches came out on day 10 and that day was really rough! The surgeon gave me exercises to do and I find them easier to do in a tub of warm water! The incisions look good; I actually snuck a peek and took pictures on day 4...Talk about some swelling and bruising. Yikes! The cast deal stinks but at least your kids can see that you are still not feeling well....My kiddos are waking me every morning to fix breakfast ~ "mommy is better!" I'm not sleeping very well; how about you? The incision site on my elbow is still very tender and the Dr. said it could last up to 6 months :( By the way...a 17yr old and a 17 month old? How is she?
Take Care!

hey :)
Sorry to hear that your having problems, I think that will last a little while with the pain, and all that, but I dont know for sure. I know my doc dont want me to move my arm for another 2 weeks. I just want to take the cast off. But I know I cant :(
I hope and pray you start to feel better soon. And let your children know that Mommy still is not better yet.
How old are they again?
Well my 17 month old is doing well, she will be 18 months on july 11. Growing fast. She has to wear a eye patch for 3 hours a day. I hope it works, My son, well I hope he is doing well. It was a shock for him at basic, but he should have known what it would be like, my hubby is Army, so he knows all about the military. I think he is home sick. But I hope and pray that he will be okay.I am sure he will.
Are you getting any feelings back in your hand and fingers? Once in a while I get a weird shock in my pinky.
What exer are they having you do? Well keep me informed on how your doing, and I will try to keep you informed better on this side :)
e-mail me if you would like.
take care, and rest that arm

Hey there,
I have full sensation in my hand and the shocking pains you are referring to. My elbow is numb...interesting feeling. haha. No, I'm now cured and open game for my kids (9yr & 7yr). http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif I feel so bad for you. It must be hard to get around without help! I know sleeping must be hard for you too. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/yawn.gif It will get better. Took all the sterile strips off today, they were driving me crazy, I think it will make it easier to sleep that way. I was taking Neurontin before my surgery and stopped after...I tried it today and it did seem to help a little. That may be a temporary option for you; it would help that stabbing throb (nerves waking up).
God Bless...prayers for you and your family

Hey there!
You are so funny...your giving your age away with those hot flashes! haha Actually, when my arm was wrapped, I was having terrible hot flashes. I was freezing everyone in the house; even my menopausal sister, haha. Turns out, it was probably a combo of the wrapping, swelling, pain medicine, and downstairs air conditioner needing more free-on! haha
I wish I could just sleep through the night. The Neurontin I told you about earlier is helping some. I know what you mean about more meds.....I'm feeling the same way. Sounds like you are in Much Better spirits now that you hubby is home. I know you worry about your boy; keep your chin up....he is in a lot of peoples prayers; including our family. Hope the cast comes of soon. By the way, I'm the hand and arm exercise master! Hurts like h_ _ _ when I do them but I'm getting those muscles streched out. The bruising in my hands prevents me from doing the strengthing stuff, but that will come with time and healing. Take Care and keep me up on your progress.

Hey there,
Hope everyone had a great Fourth! I'm about to lose my mind from sleep deprivation...Chele, how do you sleep at night? Now that your cast is off; isn't the incision site sensitive and tender? It hurts to lay my arm down on the bed at night and laying it on a soft pillow only helps slightly. I also wake up with severe stiffness and discomfort.....YIKES! Waaa I know...Big Baby! Oh by the way..37 over here!
Any advice? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tired.gif

My dear Shelby,
Hello
Sorry to hear that your having so much trouble sleeping. I am not having to much trouble sleeping from the arm. (Knock on wood **) It does hurt some, but where she put the cut I can kinda put my arm behind my pillow next to my head ( with the palm of my hand facing up) and it does not hurt that way. That does seem like the only way I can get good sleep anyway. I do find that when I lay on my side with my arm on my hip/side it hurts more. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/confused.gif Try to take a pain killer (or tyl PM) before you go to bed and maybe a hot soak might help? I really am not sure this is all new to me. I did find I am able to move my arm soooo much better since I took those strips off. I just thought of something, You also had alot more done to your arm then I did and you have to sights to worry about. That is why you might be having more problems. Plus it has not been that long since you and I had our surgeries. If it keeps up maybe you should call the doctor. Are you doing alot with it during the day? That might be it to? I am not sure though. I want to help and give you the right answer,. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/idea.gif Well, I hope that you will be feeling better and I pray that you will be able to sleep.
So did you have a nice 4th? My mother was coming up for the weekend, she and her husband made it, but he could not handle the heat so they left for home after dinner. Atleast they made it for dinner. But anyway, I really do hope that you start feeling better and your arm settles down.
Please keep me up to date. :bouncing:
Take care and talk to you soon

Hey there,
The arm above the head does help some but I have Bursitis in my shoulders (thanks to competetive tennis~long ago). I put a call into the Dr. today and I'm waiting to hear back. I'll keep you posted. You sound great....Much better Spirits? Have you heard from your 17yr old?
I've been using my arm alot; I find it keeps it from getting stiff. The stiffness is what kills me. Especially during the night.
Nag, nag, nag. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Talk to you soon ~ I'm so glad things are getting better for you!

Hey there Chele,
The Dr. called back and I described my symptoms to his PA...unfortunately; as I was describing the pain I began to realize exactly what I was saying! I have Tennis elbow again; in another part of the joint and they want to inject it with cortisone...I am so not looking forward to that. That's how this all started  I originally had my elbow injected for tennis elbow 2 weeks before I decided to fix the Ulnar nerve. Looks like I've gone full circle http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif ! Hopefully this injection will go as well as the first one I had. I get the needle next Wed.; keep me in your thoughts! I hope you are doing well; must feel funny to have the cast off?
God Bless and take care!

Oh ShelbyS,
Dear you are going through so much. I am sooo sorry for you. I wish I could say something to help you through this. Sorry I have not been on sooner, my phone line was cut in our back yard and we just got it back running again.
I hope and pray that the shot helps you. I have not gotten any shots in my arms so i dont know what to say. Except I am thinking of you and I pray this gets better for you sooon.
I am doing fine, I am now doing therepy 2 times a week. Just started this Past Thrusday. SO cant tell you much. But she did tell me that she thought I should have my other arm (elbow) done soon after this one heals.
I really dont see on this board or any other board anyone who talks about getting their elbow done like what I went through. I know you had the elbow and wrist done. But know one really talks about the elbow. Weird.
Well I Really Hope that you start to feel better Real Quick. I feel for you and what you are going through. I just wish I could help. But At least you know that your thought of and prayed for. :)
Please take care and take it easy!!!!

Oh one more thing, My doctor did not tell me this, But my therepy doc did. She told me to get Vit E (Pure) and rub it on the cut in the opposite direction. This is to help the scare and while you are rubbing it, it helps so that scare tissue does not form and cause more problems. She told me to do this as much as I think about it. So I just started today. I hope it works. But I thought I would let you know. I am not sure if you have heard of this or not.

Hey there,
Wild and Wooley days with little sleep. Glad to hear you are doing better; keep me posted on the PT in case I need to push the issue. I did have the injection on Friday ~ it's still very sore but feeling somewhat better. Is your incision site Very (hyper) sensitive? I am using the vitE on the incision..didn't know about the opposite direction tib bit though; thanks! Brushing up against the incision site is like a sensitive sunburn. Wish there was something I could do about that. I guess having the hand done at the same time has made me a little gun shy on having the Left arm done too quickly. The surgeon said that he found a Neuroma (nerve tumor) at the site where it was pinching. (Non-cancerous). Thanks for getting back with me! Hope all are well!

He had the left don on May 22nd and went back to work on June 12th. What kind of doctors do you have? Let me hear from you

Hey there,
An Orthopedic surgeon worked on my right hand and elbow. The elbow is what's giving me fits. The palm of my hand is very tender still (June 17th). I can't apply a lot of pressure to it; though the Dr. did warn me it would be that way for a while; until the tendons stretch out again. Did your husband have Physical Therapy after surgery? I'm really curious if that makes a markable difference? Tell your husband he's either very fortunate or a Real Trooper.

Goodmorning,
Just on my way to therepy. I don't think I will be going much longer. This is my 3 time and my arm is pretty much back to full use. YEAH!!!! (I think running after the baby is therepy LOL)
My scare is coming along nicely with using the vit-E all day. It also helps when I rub it in to get rid off the weird feeling at the elbow. (Tender...) I also put a rap around my elbow at night to help the weleeing and in 4 days it went down a inch.
I too had a Orthopedic surgeon. ShelbyS and I had the surger on the same day.
Paininneck if you have anything you would like to ask or just want to join talking to us, just post :)
Well I dont want to be late to therepy, so I will let you know what she says when I get home.
Until then,
Blessings, Hugs :)
