I was diagnosed on January 14 with an acute case of mono. I missed two months of work and was basically no good for anything. I did have extreme swelling of the lymph glands under my arms, and my spleen was tender. I also have terrible photophobia, for which I take midrin.

A month ago I went back to work for two days a week (I am a Dental Hygienist) and was very tired but made it through the days. This week I added another day and when I came home on Thursday I felt like I had full-blown mono again. I feel a little better today, but I wonder if I am going back to work too much too soon or if I am developing CFS.

I see my Dr. at the end of April. Any opinions?

It is possible that you still just have mono, not CFS. I was diagnosed with mono in september and recently went back to my doctor to be retested because I have not gotten my energy back yet. He agreed to run the mono test again but not before suggesting antidepressants and asking if everything was OK at home, if I was stressed, ect, implying that It might be in my head (this wasn't my normal doctor, I had to settle for a substitute) Well 2 days later the test for mono came back positive, again! So I threw the samples of the antidepressant in the trash. I'm not happy that i have mono, but It IS possible to have it for months and months and even years. I have actually had it for over a year, and a friend of mine had it for 2 years. Get restested.
